This weekend I watched some kiteboarding and found out about lessons. I would like to give it a try but it seems a bit scarry and radical. I am a woman in my 40's who works in an office, so this seems something quite different. Has anyone had experience with kite boarding? How does it make you feel. Do you know of any middle age people who take it up? It takes a couple of hours of lessons before you even get to go in the water (a bit boring) and it is expensive, but I keep thinking about it.

Three years on... did you give it a go? I guess it would be too difficult to afford it now for you, but there are books you can buy on it or maybe ebooks? I've seen this in action. It's fairly popular at the beaches down here because we're in a sheltered gulf, so we don't get the big waves for regular surfing like you guys up there - straight off the Pacific! But we do get the wind, so that makes it really move. I haven't tried it myself & don't feel the need to. Still thinking about it?

No, I calmed down and never gave it a try. The closest I ever tried was sailboarding in a lagoon, which I enjoyed the only time I tried it. Years ago I had a surfing lessong down south (we don't get waves on the reef) but didnt really stand up successfully so I was very happy with my sailboarding experience. I haven't really thought about kite boarding for a while!
