is it the topic or the one who started it that make u respond to a discussion?

when responding to a discussion, do u respond to it because your interested on the topic or do u respond to it because its one of your friends who started it? because i was wondering why there are some my lotters who got so many responses received even their topic is not that very interesting, to me or to other mylotters i guess, yet the number of responses were voluminous. any idea?

for me it doest not depend on who started the discussion. whether he is in my friendst list or not & i like the topic then i would immediately hit the "respond to this discussion." i do have a routine though, i check for my created discussions & respond to those who made a post, after which i would go to the list of discussion i have responded & check whether i get a response from the creator & if yes i put another comment. next is for me to browse interesting discussion in the list of no responses, then if all fails my last resort is to check interesting topics of my friends who started a discussion. with that routine, just imagine how long i stay here in mylot. and one more thing, i don't stay here in mylot for the money, at times i would only get less than $1 with my 8hrs stay in this website. for me, i do forums because i get my happiness in helping others, sharing my thoughts & knowledge.

In my case, I never really cared who wrote the discussion as long as I am interested in the discussion and can share my view about the topic. Whenever I am looking for something to respond to, I am browsing between topics interested in and topics my friends started. The reason people here are having as many friends as possible is because they can have an easier access on the topics they want because they share the same interest.

yeah, i guess, what matters most should be the topic that catch your interest regardless who started it. thanks for the respond.

Hi there....
It really depends. Most of the time, I check with the discussions my friends started then I go and check the discussions they've started. If there's nothing that interests me there, I go and check the no response page and new discussions.
As long as the topic interests me, it really doesn't matter who made it.

I usually respond to a discussion if it is interesting. I guess I am not like some people who are just here for the friends and anyone else does not matter. To me it does not matter who started the subject. In fact, I will go from today's top, to friends started, or I will look at those little pictures on front to see if there is a discussion in one of my favorite interests. So I am going all over the place. I guess I am running around like a chicken with my head off.

To me, topic is more important.
I will not make posts in a unknown discussion even it was set up by my best friend. For I think I can not make a post with some meanings in a discussion which I can not understand.
people can talk more on a topic which they are interested in. But sometimes give support to their friends is quite important to keep a good relationship.

hi
if you know the person who is talking to you, then it the topic that will attract. On the other hand it will be the person. If you like any person then surely listen to them even the topic is boring

For me it is the topic, although I do check the discussions my friends have started and answer those if I can contribute. I know some people only answer their friends discussions regardless of the topic. I guess each member of Mylot has his/her preferences.

It's usually the topic; though I try to respond to all my friends' discussions. But there are times when I have no knowledge of the topics, so I wouldn't want to post something that doesn't make sense to their discussions.

Definitely the topic!
I am new here and unfortunately dont know many of the posters (at the moment) and i am sure this will change with time.
Therefore, I mainly look for a discussion with an interesting topic before responding to it, like for example this one :)

I respond to what interest me. I have alot of different interest. So, that tends to help. I also will read my friends stuff. Sometimes I have a comment on something. Or I feel I can add to a discussion.

Hi there amandoalexandra!
That really depends... Most of the time, I go over the discussions started by my friends as they are my priority. Generally though, it's the topic that make me respond to a certain discussion. While the discussions started by my friends here at myLot are interesting, there are topics that I do not know much about. That is why, I consider the topics at hand too.

I always respond to a discussion whenever I feel I can actually say something whether the person is on my friend list or not. Moreover, apart from 1, all my myLot friends are still virtual friends whom I've never met in person. So, I never look at who the topic starter is before responding.
Though, as you said, a lot of people do get many replies even if their discussion is not too tasty. I guess with time and activity you will start to understand what a good topic is to post here at myLot. And, if you have any friends at myLot whom you've known before joining up, then even that makes a difference.
