I hate waiting in line, then ...

Just as your patience is running out, some bright spark opens another checkout, and the twenty people behind you all check out first.

It's the way of life, honey! If all is too perfect and smooth, then you know you are dreaming. I despise going to the grocery store, (and I have done this too, so I am not innocent) and seeing the person in front of me pull out at least $300 dollars in groceries only to find that she left the purse at home. That irritates my feet!!! When the new line is already open, there is a little old person counting out every peice of change in his little coin purse, just so he doesn't have to use the bills, and typically it's in dimes and pennies. I used to work at a local grocery store. I had a little old lady come in who used food stamps and cash to pay for her purchases. She placed all of her groceries on the belt. She started out of her purse with all the coupons in the world. Don't get me wrong, I love coupons, I will spend all Sunday cutting them out! But they were all last weeks store coupons. She became mad and after ringing up 15 minutes worth of groceries, my collegue opened her line up. Everyone went to her line, and by the time I got done with the little old lady she had 13 customers cashed and out. I was frustrated! I just wanted to scream. I had to take about 30 items BOGO off the reciept and just when she was about to pay, seeing the price, She bolted off, and I got stuck voiding everything! I am totally feeling the frustration now!

That's a good addition to this subject. What I hate, is just as you are next in line, the pain in the butt in front of you goes and fumbles around, looking for their wallet (which they should have had ready, I think), and then gets out a credit card and coupons, upon which - the credit card fails the authorisation, or the shop doesn't accept it ... it just goes on ...!
It makes me feel like grabbing them, and throwing them to the back of the line for their inconsideration.
Thanks for your words,

I hate that too. It happened just yesterday, only I was about midway in the line when a new one opened, so I went over there...first in line. The cashier who had just called everyone over hadn't even put any money in his register yet, so I wound up waiting for like another 10 minutes before he was ready! By that time I would've been checked out and halfway home if I'd stayed in the other line!

I sympathise with you there. In England, we call that 'Sod's Law' - no matter what you seem to do, the undesired outcome seems to happen.
Thanks for your comment,
