I have two miniature poodles called Secret and Magic. My health visitor said that I should remove my dogs when feeding my toddler. I can put in them in mu garden or in my kitchen but Secret barks. I find my dogs wait next to my child's high chair waiting for some food to be given to them. My son is slow to eat but my dogs are super quick. When I am eating my dogs don't beg but they do with my son.
Does your dog worry at you or your children when you are eating?

We dont have dogs at home now , but i remember when i was child my grandma will take my brother who is not a year old , she takes him with her and goes to the street to feed him , the street dogs will come and beg for the food , so she also takes some food for the dogs and gives them so that my brother will see and eat the food well.I like to see the dogs surrounding us when we feed the babies lol.. you have them at home :)

My dog knows that he will get nothing until after we have finished. He also knows that if he begs or annoys anyone then he will not get any scraps so he tends to be very well behaved when we are eating. Most of the time he does not even hang around and just comes when called. If he does hang around then he sits in the corner and waits patiently.
He seems to know which meals give the best scraps and sometimes he will hang around. There is one meal we have using the slow cooker and he knows that he always gets the gravy left from that and he loves it so he hangs around waiting for it too cool enough for him to eat it.

My puppy, as of lately, has gotten into this bad habit of begging me for food when me and my daughter eat. He won't bother her, but he will bother me. The weird thing is that we've never given him human food. I don't know if it's the scent the food gives off or what. I've started doing a routine when we're about to eat. Before we sit down for supper, i'll put out a bowl of his food. That way, when we eat, he eats and it deters him from begging. I just started this recently, so I don't know how effective it is yet.

Chase our min pinscher used to stucked out his long nose and lay it flat in our legs begging for food. but all we do is to just ignore him and he'll stop. now, he switch to plan B and that is walked around us while we eat and then wait for his share.

My dog, Kingston, is awful when we eat. He begs and he gets in your face and hangs his head over your plate. He drools real bad too when we're eating. When we put him up so we can eat, he just barks. He has a loud, booming bark so that's even more annoying.

My dogs like to beg but I have been trying unsuccessfully to teach them not to. I don't know why they do it. But it is really annoying. The rottweiler drools so it is a little disgusting to. So we try to teach them not to beg. For now they just lay next to us wanting our food.

Oh...lol, he is nothing even close to a poor doggie. He is spoiled and well loved but, if he isn't yelled at, he won't bother doing the command. He won't listen unless he is forcefully told what to do. He is most definitely not a poor doggie. If I simply said, "Frizbee, lay down" all sweet and sugary, he would sit and pant in my face while I was eating as if I didn't just give him a command. He is a good dog but, my commands said in a nice tone mean nothing to him. LOL!

Well we don't have a dog in our house, but we had a dog when I was a teenager. Our dog was very well trained and went and sat in his bed while we ate our meals. His bed was very near the dining room table.
We have two cats and they either go outside while we are eating or they sit in there beds. They are not allowed under the table when we eat.

yes our dogs sit beside us nicely and quietly every time we eat. they just sit there waiting to be given some food. but we seldom give them while we are eating, we train them to patiently wait for their turn to eat and they should eat on their own plate and area in the kitchen so that they won't have to scatter their food anywhere and they will not bark impatiently.

I used to have a little dog,but you know that if you don't take much care of her,she may get infected.AND if her owner don't care,he may get some horrible diseases. So my parents do not allow owning a dog after some sad reports about the hydrophobia. But i do remember that when my family are taking dinner, she would stay outside and with her exclassive feeding plate, she would have a nice dinnertime.the best thing about the seperation is not being bothered, lol!

My beagle Buster loves table scraps.
I try to avoid giving him any.
But my dad feeds him constantly.
So when I am at the table Bister gets put in his kennel.
Otherwise he sits next to dad begging and waiting.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We have a two nice dogs here in our house. They always watch us while eating and wait for food to be given to them. Is this bad? Our dogs also don't beg, they just wait for food to be given to them. I think there's nothing wrong with dogs being there while eating. Sometimes my nephew would be here and our dogs doesn't beg food even to a child.

Hi Maxine, Ziggy, my pup is too young at the moment so I put him in his crate whilst we are eating but my labs used to sit under the table whilst we were eating to grab any dropped morsels, I don't see the harm in it. Health professionals go by the book we live in real life so if your dogs don't jump up or annoy I would leave them be especially if one barks if put out. Huggles. Ellie :D

My dogs watch but from being sat in their bed which is in the corner of the room - I think if I had any children I wouldn't remove them from the room as I always see dogs that do get put out of the room and it actually causes more resentment from them as they feel they are being punished for not even doing anything but some health visitors do think it is the right way so I suppose it's each to their own method really!

my dalmation pup gets excited when i take the food from the kitchen to the table... VERY excited... but when we sit down... he will sit next to me or my boyfriend... and stare at us with his angelic eyes hahaha... we dont give in tho...
im happy that he doesnt jump up or growl... or whine to get my attention or food..
but i should probably teach him to sit in his bed.. or a fair distance from the dinner table just to regulate it all... hes a funny bugger tho.. if u ignore the puppy dog eyes long enough he will either nudge you so that you look at him.. or will just put his head and rest it on your leg still giving the puppy dog eyes... TOO CUTE. haha...
