Do you mix your paint when you don't have enough?

We are painting the bedroom upstairs and there is not enough of the one color to fininsh the whole room. Now I'm broke so I told them to take the one blue and paint the bottom walls and then take the darker Blue mix with the white and make a lighter blue paint the top half with that. Use the rest of the white for ceiling. Now to me that makes sence instead of wasting it. What so you think? Thank you. Have a nice day and a happy one.

I think that is a great idea! I was actually thinking of doing that myself. I have about 3 cans of half used paint and I was going to combine all 3 and see if that would be enough to paint the walls. We shall see. I think if they are all latex, or satin, or whatever it should be ok. I don't think you could mix a satin with a semi gloss though. You should post a picture and another discussion once the room is painted! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

As soon as I get a camera I will so just that. Or at least let you all know how it went. I'm just sick of being broke and not having a nicer looking home. With all the money I pay out a month just to live in it. So back to the basic's. LOL. Talk to you later have a wonderful day. Your friend onlydia

I think thats a very good idea...sometimes when you keep buying paint you end up wasting most of it because you only need a half gallon....so what you are doing it being not only ecomonical but practical!

This is kind of like using all your old yarn up.Plus getting rid of old paint that you haven't used can be pricie as you have to take to a special place. I would sooner use it here. I have three differtent colors of pink and two yellow. So there is my basement colors. Or I can mix a few drops to see what I will get. That should be fun. thank you and have a nice day your friend onlydia

Oh absolutely! I have come up with some of the most beautiful and interesting colors by mixing leftover bits of this and leftover bits of that! And the most unusual color schemes in a room, hehehe. And yeah, no sense throwing away your dollars!

it's a great way of saving and being artistic at the same time. if you're really an artist you can even make pictures or deigns out of those paints :) good job!

Yes I do..most of my painting colors are just basic colors..I usually have 5 colors with me that's black, white, blue, red and yellow... I want to mix my color to attain a certain color, that's how an artist work..even in a minimal materials you can still use your creativity and mixing is fun...you wouldn't know that a certain color would be a combination of something.Try it!!it's fun..
