Yes my fellow mylotters, you all read correctly.
I am one of the people in the world who can't gain weight and
right now I really need to gain weight. I am not totally sure how I lost some pounds and I am now just a bit underweight cause of it! Strange part is
I did not really notice the change in my body figure but I did take notice of my eating habit being very poor for about a month now. It was my dad who decided to
confront me about my weight loss and that is when I weighed myself. Of course he was not pleased when I told him how much I was weighing and this incident has been about a couple weeks ago and has not improved a bit.
Now please don't tell me to go to a doctor for this because all the doctor told me was to nibble OFTEN, even if it is one cookie every hour. I wish it was THAT easy for me to do!
Long story short...I have the appetite but I feel as if my tummy must have shrunk because it just can't hold the amount of food it used to. If I try to finish what would be a usual meal I would feel very sick (like to vomit, but luckily I don't end up doing so) and now I don't dare eat a bite more once I feel full cause of that feeling and about the nibbling, well once I have eaten, even if I feel like I am a bit hungry it's like my tummy is still saying, "I'm full! Can't even handle a snack!"
I even have a problem with my midnight snacking! I usually get out of bed and midnight snacking for me is just that, all about chocolate! Sometimes I would sit and have a candy bar or sometimes drink some cold vanilla milk and go back to bed as if I had never got up in the first place. Now my tummy just tells me, "No! Get back up!" Because when I do what I usually used to do I start to feel like I want to vomit and I end up having to get out of bed and I sit on the couch for about half an hour before I feel well enough to actually go back to bed! Well the drink is worse and I ended up taking some andrews (which is something to settle the stomach) and I haven't had any cold vanilla milk in the middle of the night since then. I have also avoided getting up to snack as well because of this discomfort.
Okay, so here is what I am here to ask.
I want your suggestions on how to gain weight (no "eat junk foods!" posts please) cause I really am not the biggest junk food person out there. I like KFC now and then but I really don't crave those type of foods.
Tell me ways that I can hype up the calories in my foods by adding something in it without it filling me faster than the dish normally would.
I would LOVE any suggestions you all have for expanding a stomach capacity as well. I really need to start eating more food, it's not all about the calories here, but more about the fact that my tummy seems to have shrunk, which is why the doctor recommended I nibble...which hasn't been working so well for me.
I am getting so desperate I even read that alcohol helps you to gain weight and I am almost to the point of wanting to try it, even though it can have ill effects on my liver.
So yeah, any suggestions, except "eat junk food!" is welcomed.
Oh and no banana shakes. I hate bananas, but surprisingly I love banana chips.
Have a good night everyone

I eat rice but very little amount at the moment. I rarely ever eat bread.
I can't eat a heavy meal because I may feel full in just two bites at this rate!
I take vitamins daily. I take vitamin A capsules, a liquid mainly made of B vitamins (I'm a young lady btw) and another liquid multi-vitamin.
Well, I don't really want to go to the gym since I am a young lady and really have no interest in building muscles.
But thanks for the suggestion anyway

Oh I wish I had that kind of an appetite right now since my tummy is bulging already and if only I could share my fat with you I would be more willingly to donate it to you.
But then things are not as easy as that. Well first of all I guess you better have a general checkup with your doctor. There might be some problem somewhere why your appetite is so much low. It may be psychological as well as physical problems that may affect your appetite. You may ask the doctor if you may be siffering from anorexia or some of your hormones might also be affecting your metabolism. It may be a thyroid problem where if it is hyperactive you might have these very fast metabolism that anything that you eat is easily absorbed by your body and you don't really absorbed the nutrients properly thereby having weight problems. So I guess you have to really get it checked with your doctor. I think there are those in the market that is a drink that cxan boost your appetite too. You might want to try one of those. It usually is a milk drink. Another option is try working out. Try asking a gym instructor about exercising to gain weight. I am pretty sure your local gym instructor might ba able to suggest exercises that could improve your appetite. Also they could also recommend what types of food you can eat to really gain a healthy weight.

We are all into different catogaries of thinking. My sister is also in dire need of extra kilos while I am trying hard to shed my pounds. All my life I have been on the large size and am very conscious of my size that somehow I often deprive myself of socializing. I always dream of having a slim body where I can parade in beautiful clothings unlike now where all the fats are placed in the wrong places in my body which makes me resemble like humpty dumpty. I always thought that the thins are blessed while the fattys are doomed. Now I know we are equally unhappy about our body sizes. Not nearly so common as overweight and only rarely to be worried about. The trouble is that if the fat over the body is too thin then the insulation from extremes in temperature is poor. The remedy is to eat more. Drink alfafa juice and carrot juice if you don't have much appetite. The other thing is to drink milk blended with sesame seeds with little honey. This might help you.

Hi Good Day!
Do you have an ulcer? If you have like this sickness when you eat a lot your stomach was aching and you feel like to vomit... but if you don't have like this sickness, Try to take multi-vitamins that can give you appetite if it is not working. Go to Gym and ask them what would you do, or maybe they have some suggestion. Because there is an exercise that can make you slim or fat.. or maybe after you workout at the gym its makes you tired and hungry right? maybe it can help you to eat a lot..

I understand how you feel roxanne271 because my boyfriend is also in the same dilemma as you. He wants to put some weight on, he lose a lot when he started his new position and became that stressed a lot of times. To help him out, I did some research about gaining weight. I have read 2 tips that interest me the most and shared it with my boyfriend, he is doing good as of now and did gain weight, just forgot how much, but he started 3 weeks ago. He make sure to eat those 3 major meals each day, Rice meals. But not too much- the regular meal he normally consume- he didn't add more to it- just normal- but he made sure he eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between those meals, he make sure to eat light snacks, like cookies, a little piece of cake, small chocolate, biscuits, peanuts- only light snacks, that can be found on his office drawer. He told me that it is effective for him.

I read a "diet" book years ago and I can't remember the name of it anymore. It was written by a doctor who specialized in helping people gain weight. He was writing this book to prove that diets only make you gain weight and not lose it. The way he coached his patients to gain weight was to have them go on temporary diets...such as for two or three weeks at a time, then go back to eating normally. The reasoning behind it is as all of us know who have tried to lose weight by dieting...dieting ruins the metabolism and when people diet and then go back to eating normally, they will gain weight. It is why dieting has a yo-yo effect for overweight people. Maybe you can research it online and find the name and author of this book. But be sure to ask your doctor about it before trying it.

Roxanne,
I have the same problem. I can eat a lot but still not gain weight. So I asked a friend of mine who is a nurse about this, she suggested to drink Boost or a meal supplement similar to Boost along with a meal. It is not junk food and you can find it at any store in the pharmacy aisle near the vitamins. It really helps out a lot. I have been doing this for a few weeks now, and I have noticed that I did gain a pound or two. I will continue to do this until I am satisfied with a little more weight.

Ahhh to have such a problem. I'm one of those people who see the pounds jump on me as I walk two aisles away from the cookies. They search me out and destroy me. LOL Skinny people who say they want to gain weight often make me want to hold them down and force feed them cookies. (No offense intended there truely) LOL
Now, all joking aside... I would suggest adding more carbs to you diet. I understand your not wanting junk food, but why not add more breads, dairy foods, and fruits to your meals. Things with carbs and sugar that can help you gain a few pounds. A nice meal that includes mashed potatoes (made with whole milk and butter), and warm bread should help that. :) Good luck! Now wish me luck on my continued effort to LOSE weight. LOL

Roxanne,
I suffer from the same problem.. In some ways I feel it's worse to be underweight.. Putting on weight is an extremely difficult task as the main method of doing so turns out to be the least possible method.. Eating and only eating can change this and help you put on weight.. but eating is something that thin people just cannot do to put on weight.. I can eat larger portions than I could ever.. but somehow the weight just does not add up..:S
A few things that I would recommend would be to follow the kind of routine many people who are trying to lose their weight would follow.. like constantly measuring your weight (digital reading).. drinking water.. and exercising..
When your thin.. it takes time for you to put on weight all over your body.. so the first signs are usually are the stomach area.. Also.. one specific area would be your wrists which quickly show the changes...
Drinking alot of water helps.. it gives your body that boost required for all the food conversion taking place.. Eating a lot of fatty food is definitely recommended.. but try doing that at regular intervals.. However, make sure that your meals are heavier..
Overtime I have noticed is that fatty liquids help you put on weight faster.. When your thin.. more than worrying about putting on weight.. you should really worry about losing it.. Cause that seems to be my biggest issue.. I put on weight really quick.. but unfortunately I seem to lose it even quicker.. so I am back to my skinny self all the time...
Last but the most important point would be to be extremely happy by having a positive attitude.. if your happy and your smiling.. Trust me.. As cliched as it may sound.. you will put on weight faster than you could imagine..
Hope it helps.. If you happen to find a workable way.. please share!!

I did once, quite inadvertantly, and it was a real success, it gave me my first paunch.
Eat lots of ice cream and cornmeal porridge.
I used to make cornmeal porridge with condensed milk and put down at least two bowls of ice cream a day and just GREW !
Try it if you need to put on weight.
Its almost guaranteed.

well my friend, if you are not the type of person who does not gain weight even you eat a lot, try to lift weights. because when you do, the body does a lot of work so it will need more food to satisfy your body's nutrient needs. therefore you will be eating more.
well actually some of my friends that have a case like that, they told me that it is harder to gain weight than to lose it :)

in my opinion, gain weight is easier but not any body can easy.like my brother, even he eat many also have a light weight.for me,i think always eat supper or after eat quickly go to sleep, this may gain weight because when you wake up you will feel hungry, therefore you will eat again again.
