I went to a barn dance that started at 7PM. It went way into overtime and was going until 6AM. I left at llPM because I lost track of time and didn't want my Mother to worry any more than she already was. I did get a chance to call her. My cousins told me that it went until sunrise the next day which was 6. 7 to 11 was 4 hours. No barn dance before and none since has lasted that long to my knowledge in our area.
I've never been in a dance contest, you know, the ones where the last ones dancing win. If I built up to it, when I was younger, that would be fun. Now, I don't know if I could build up to it. So have you ever danced a long time? Was it for charity, because people were really into it (like the barn dancers were), there was a contest, or did you loose track of time, or something else?

You didn't mention how old you were, was this when you were a teen? Because if I was a teen that danced, I probably would have that amount time in..But instead I was an adult before I started dancing and the longest I went was at a Worship Watch from 6 PM to 2 AM and that is because I had kids and we were getting pretty tired..Some people probably stayed the whole night..Why? To worship, don't need a reason for that..

Yup, I was a teen.
I was part of a church, at one point, where people could sign up for an hour at a time to pray and they wanted prayers for 24 hours for something. Take care.

No, they had two to three people sign up per hour to pray in church for 24 hours. You went in and prayed and then went home. The church I was brought up in was into prayer. Dancing was not allowed even in the hall next door until recently when they started having receptions there for weddings. Other than weddings, there was no dancing. Then they started having Marti Gras parties before lent and had some more dancing. But if we signed up to pray, we prayed. Dancing went with something else. For teens, they had ball games against other churches. Not much else for teens. Take care

I have danced for 4 hours but not continuously. This also was about 40 years ago and my body was in much better shape, no pun intended! I've never been in a dance contest for the length of time I've danced but have been in a few contests for doing the Imperial, fancy way to jitterbug. Came in second twice so I was happy. The secret is finding a good male partner who can dance. Not easy to do in my part of the woods.

Oh, trust me, I sat down during breaks. My Mother would have loved watching or maybe even doing a jitterbug contest. My Mother loved to jitterbug. Second twice is great. Not easy to find anyone up here who knows anything besides the side to side moving with the music. That's all most men do here and then complain dancing is boring. If they'd learn something besides one move over and over again for three minutes, they might like it. Thanks and take care.

It was a very long time ago, the last time I went out dancing. I'm going to say the longest I probably ever stayed out at a dance club was 3 hours. I've never been in a dance contest, but that would have been fun in my younger years.
I keep telling my husband that I want to take ballroom dancing lessons and he says that we will when we have more time to do it. I think that would be so much fun, plus keep us in better physical shape.
Your barn dance sounds fun! Even 4 hours sounds like a long time to go dancing, I can't even imagine staying at a dance all night! That must have been some shindig!

You stayed 10 hours? Wow! You guys, during your prom years, had lots of endurance. Since your prom is only once in your life and it is safer to stay there, good for you! Thanks and take care.
