Do you pity people and what types of people do you pity? Are you more apt to pity a persons discussion if they are talking about a situation that is horrible and respond with pity? Are you person that does not pity anyone and think people deserve what they get? I am a person that thinks it depends on the situation . Like, say this persons mother just passed away, I would feel extremely sorry for that person . If the person said well I killed my whole family, I would feel no remorse for that person dying on the electric chair. How do you pity ?

blackcatbetty - The word pity focuses on negative feelings, which I try to avoid. I understand your feelings about a criminal, but I don't like the thought of an electric chair. I pity those who can't find the joy and mystique in life. I don't label it pity, I send blessings because I feel sorry for them. I can't judge another person.

Well, we are only humans. You're right about forming an opinion when you meet someone, but that is not the same as judging.

so true , and I agree, I am not here to judge , although I can not help form an opinion about something, or someone . As soon as you see something you start forming an opinion about it , to judge it is gods job. Pity does deal with many negative issues and its sad. I find myself pitying things w/o even realizing I am doing it.

I pity my ex which is good because in the beginning I used to hate my ex so much for what they did to me! They were manipulative, controlling and I was in an abusive relationship, a year ago tomorrow in fact I got out, well escaped from my ex, the hatred I felt was pretty bad and started to eat away at me like a cancer, but with time I was able to turn the hatred into pity and pity is an emotion that I feel comfortable with, well compared to hatred any emotion is safer (apart from anger) but anger is another subject and another complexity! Pity is a good emotion it is also a releasing emotion as well because pity can be healthy for the mind, body and soul!

I'm not sure about myself.. Pity can come in many forms to me, and depending on who the person is ^_^ But no matter how, i will always pity the elderly, whom are alone, when they have got kids whom can support them but they choose to leave him alone.. I pity those elderly, as they are actually supposed to be enjoying life, but their children are all too seflish and self centred that they dun wanna leave their elderly parents to be a burden to them.. Thus i pity the old..

I'm about like that, too. Mostly I try to encourage people, though, instead of pitying them. I think that's what most people want.

Yeah I do like to open my heart to others in most cases , although there are things that I feel I just should not comment on .

yeah it depend on what it is. if it's a person who life is screwed up by what they do or did. no.. someone who became cripple in a accident. yeah for awhile. get up and work at it. learn something new. just depend what it is. even with my medical condition i have no pitty on myself, and if i tell people what all is wrong with i tell them don't have pitty on me, don't feel bad or sorry for me either. i don't.

I am the type of person who doesnt pity anyone and who thinks people get what they deserve. If you're a bad person, you certainly deserve the bad things that happen to you. It also has something to do with karma. Most people anyway dont like to be pitied. They hate it when people pity them. But sometimes when i see i small child begging in the street and those with no houses and just staying in the streets, i must say i pity those people.
