Love yourself?

Does loving oneself constitute real love? They tell us we have to lose ourselves in order to love truly. They say loving ourselves is selfish and is not true love. What is true love? Does it mean ignoring ourselves and love only others?

Shucks! This is pretty hard! Hehehe! I have always been a loving person, I'm not so lovable though as I can see I love so much but I don't get much love in return. I believe though that loving should start from within. We must be able to love ourselves first before we can truly love someone else. I don't think loving ourselves is selfish for love is never selfish, loving ourselves means taking care of ourselves and doing things that can make us happy and virtuous individuals.

Love always discombobolates me. Sometimes, I see it as a deadly weapon that can be used to disarm us and make us slaves of a tyrannical lover. I am glad to know you love yourself. Cheers!!

I believe you can not be whole with out loving yourself. If you can't love yourself, you will find it difficult to love others. You will constantly search out faults in others to try to make yourself feel better. This is no way to love or to be opened to love. You need to feel good about yourself, if you feel good about yourself you will spend less of your life being jelous of others, and you can allow love and happiness in your life.

I believe we can never love other unless we first learn how to love ourself, we can never give what we don't have. We can never love others unless we love ourself. The more love we give the more love we receive. It would be a loveless creature when she/he only love her/his self.

Loving oneself is not bad at all. It is your way of respecting and giving value for your life. Loving yourself doesn't mean you're selfish. Selfish is when you don't care about anyone else but yourself, which is way different from loving oneself. Respect always comes with love. They say if you don't respect yourself, how will others respect you? and if you have no respect for yourself, how can you learn to respect others? The same goes with love. AN example of selflove is when you don't let other people say bad things about you. You don't let other people push you around, because you love yourself, you respect who you are. An example of love for others is like when you have children, you feed them, you take care of them, you spend time with them. Not because you have to, but because you want to. You try your best to keep them from harm because you love them. True love will never have a definite meaning. Because there are different ypes of love, with different levels and intensities. But in the end, they're all considered love. Just as long as you show it through your actions, you are showing true love. Erase the thought of self love is being selfish. Cause it is not. We deserve to love ourselves too.
