pretty much everyone has gingivitis. It is a fancy term literally meaning "inflammation of your gums".When Bacteria gets trapped below gumline your gums get inflmammed as yours body attacks the bacteria. To prevent and reverse gingivitis all you need to do is keeping flossing daily and brushing your teeth 2-3 times a day. The danger of gingivitis is that if it continues it can lead to periodontitis(bone loss in your mouth).

Removing the source of the infection:
-By brushing teeth regularly with a toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste approved by dentists
-Flossing
-Regular check-ups with a dentist are also important
-Severe gingivitis may require antibiotics. Antibiotics are medications used to help the body's immune system fight bacterial infection and have been shown to reduce plaque.

Hmmm, I was going to suggest rinsing your mouth several times a day with a sea salt and water solution, but I don't know how good the salt water solution is for your braces.
I don't recall any herbal remedies for gingivitis, and I hope another member may have a solution for you.
