What diets have you tryed? and did they work?

I have never tryed a diet but my boyfriend might need to , so I want to find out which one will work for him.

My wife was told to go on a lowfat diet a few months ago and I've tried to stick to it with her. Basically, we reduced our fast food intake and try to make smarter choices in the types of meat we buy.
