Making a living on myLot

While reading certain discussions, mainly in the 'making money' interest group on myLot, I can't help but get the feeling that newcomers to the site (ie. first day or two) are bedazzled with an illusion that they will be coining it in after a few entries are posted. I can't help myself feeling sorry for them, knowing that soon they will identify with the reality. Whilst it is commendable that myLot should pay us a small token fee for our efforts, I somehow get the feeling that I shouldn't order my new Ferrari just yet. I wonder if there are people using this site who genuinely do need the money they get from it. I say this because I happen to be lucky enough to have a roof over my head and food on my table, and I humbly respect and acknowledge that many people do not enjoy the same comforts, while others have more. But, generally speaking, would I be correct in assuming that most people use myLot for it's entertainment/interest value, and not for the money?

Your absolutly right. I am here on mylot for the conversation, the debates, and the friends that I have made here. This site is not aobut making money. Not about becoming rich just typing back and forth to our friends. This site has helped me learn alot of information, and has also allowed me to connect with people that I otherwise probably would have not have been able to without mylot. This site is great.

Yes, you make a lot of sense here. I too, and very many others, are the same - we enjoy the communication and its many diverse directions which it takes. Nice response, thanks, GTG

I guess when you're in a tough financial situation, every dollar helps. But, I'm with you that myLot is not going to really help that much, and it is more for fun, but happens to give you a tiny bit of money for it. Win/win, right?

I have a roof over my head, food on the table and my heat and electric are paid for. I think if someone was really financially strapped they wouldn't be able to do mylot as they wouldn't have the money to pay for internet connection or the money to travel to the library to use their computers. I am lucky my husband has a full time job he works around 60 hours a week and I am starting a part time job and the extra little bit we get on mylot will help once added to those earnings.

Fair point! I see myLot as just a token payment - I do stress however, that in some places, myLot's payment may be worth much more than here in England, and I respectfully wish no offence to anyone reading our discussion. But really, it is quite a nice little background thought that we do actually get something. Thank you for your comment, GTG

Hi, I am on Mylot mainly to make "some" extra Money . I can never think of Mylot where I hardly make $0.05 to $0.12 a day (or $0.30 at the most) to provide me with my only source of Money . Some people do claim to make much more here . Still;even $10 a day cannot take us too far in the world faced with rising Living costs everyday . So the best strategy : Enjoy Mylot for Information and Friendly advice and debates etc . And pocket in whatever Cents and a few Dollars come your way . Have a great Day !!

Hello Friend, I have seen many mylotters become quickly disillusioned. When I first started, I couldn't understand all the complaining about earnings here. Questions about how to make the most money. What things in particular earn the most money. Newbies were constantly inquiring into the money making. I kept wondering why it was so difficult to see that earnings were a minimal part of mylot. Sad but true, so many here are looking for ways to earn money and asking for new and good money making sites. For me, it has always been about the people and the interactions. Not being out in the public everyday now like I used to be when I worked, mylot gives me an outlet to connect with others. I have made lots of friends and some very special friends. I'm extremely thankful to have discovered Mylot and even more thankful for all my new friends, present company included. leenie

Hello Leenie, Yes, I think you have the right interpretation of how to gain enjoyment from myLot - keeping it about talking to your friends, acquaintances and new users. To go down the road of using myLot as an earner, seems to remove the genuinity and true purpose of the site. Thank you for your last sentence, and may I convey my respect and pleasure to you also. Thank you for your words, GT
