Do you always wake up to the sound of the alarm clock?

I, myself, use the alarm clock if I want to wake up in time,,especially if I haven't slept well the previous evening. I have read somewhere though that getting used to the alarm clock could decrease your will power. This is because, you should psyche yourself that you would wake up early the following day, just making use of your will power. Have you ever tried psyching yourself to wake up early the following day? Based on your experience, do you think this observation is true?

I never tried that, I am very dependent to alarm clock because I'm scared I might not wake up on time the next day.

I know some people can pretty much rely on their body clock "alarm". I trust the mechanical clocks more too hehe~~

Hi Jenaisle, I usually set 3 mechanical alarm clocks if I absolutely have to wake up. Then I will usually wake up. Otherwise, sometimes I give myself leeway because something is important but not that important (and I try to delude myself into thinking that I will wake up), then I might end up not waking up in time.

I do not have an alarm clock but I always wake up early every morning. I do not get up at once, I just lie there and watch my thoughts. Everything is so peaceful in the morning and the birds are being very talkative. Cheers!!!

Yes I wake up with the sound of alarm clock sometimes with the kisses..hehe. I set an alarm to my phone, the alarm clock beside my bed and the alarm clock beside my hubby. Too many clock huh? hehe. It is because we need to make sure that we woke up early to get ready for work, especially him. If I heard the sound of the alarm clock, I shut it off and went back to bed for a couple of minutes

If I do not use the alarm I will stay asleep for the rest of all the day, specially in school days, when i still awoke intel late hours of night working on something that ,usually sames intresting or helpfull for my career.. It's a little bodring to wake up like that , because i see some people qho, always wake up in the same time all days even if they do not get an enought sleeping time without using an alarm .. How do they do that??

Its because their body clock gets adjusted to the time and no matter where and when they sleep they will get up in the same time..in computer language their brain gets programmed to time like my mom!!

Hi Jenaile, Now alarm clocks are replaced by mobile phones. Regarding the will power, I think it depends on the responsibility of person. In my case, if I want to wake up one day very early for any special purpose, I will keep the alarm on but usually I woke up before the alarm bell begin and check the time. So from my experience an alarm bell is not necessary to woke me up. I want to add one interesting thing, everyday I keep on the alarm and I woke before the bell then also just wait to hear the alarm bell. This is my usual routine.

yes. i dont use alarm clock, instead i set the alarm on my phone and put it right under my pillow or just beside my pillow. i don't think it will decrease the will power as you have said because your body will then be used to the schedule. but let me remind you that there are really days that you can't wake up voluntarily without the aid of the alarm specially when you did strenuous activities the day before. and when i slept really, really late the night before.

I usually wake up with the sound of the alarm... (Though sometimes I find my self with the mobile phone on my home and sleeping later than the alarm clock set time :P [i'm switching it off and go back to sleep :P]) I also have woke up sometimes with "the power of will" as you say sometimes when I sleep with the thoughts on my head being "DON'T FALL ASLEEP,DON'T WAKE UP LATE" if it's important to wake up the next day:P... I remember I once had to travel with the bus and I had to wake up around 8-9 in the morning to catch the bus and I woke up without alarm clock and saw the time... 5.30 :P (Pretty boring to wait for 2-3 hours to leave :P at least I slept on the whole bus trip :P) hehe

Oh yes, i wake up to my alarm clock. It is very loud and you can hear it from downstairs! Sometimes even if the alarm clock goes off, i find myself unable to get out of bed.

I set an alarm clock every night, but I often wake up before the alarm rings next morning, usually ten to twenty minutes before the set time. I don't think it has something to do with the will power, and I don't agree with the argument that getting used to alarm clock could decrease the will power. Some people just tend to have a more sound sleep in the morning, while some people, like me, are more sensitive to the disturbance from outside, such as sunlight in the morning. These people are less dependent on alarm clock simply because they do not sleep that well in the morning.

Yes I wake up to the sound of the alarm. Sometimes, not all the time, I will wake up before the alarm. Usually its like five or ten minutes before, and I hate it cause i'm thinking to myself I could have gotten an extra five or ten minutes. lol.

I absolutely HAVE to use an alarm clock because otherwise I'd never get to work on time! Even when I've woken up it tends to take at least four or five repetitions of the 'snooze' button before I can actually drag myself out of bed... I do find though that I tend to wake up a couple of minutes before it's going to go off the first time, which is quite odd and has happened at a variety of different times, so it's not just that my body clock is set to wake me at one specific time. The brain is a wonderful thing, but I just don't trust it entirely, so have the clock as a backup so I don't lose my job! At the weekend - when the clock is not set, unless in extreme circumstances for something very important - I can often quite easily sleep through most of the morning without waking. I guess that if my body needs that sleep so much then I should let it (though my husband disagrees sometimes!). Best wishes, T :o)

Oh no, it's way too hard for me. I'm that kind of person who abuse the snooze-button, puts the pillow on the head and goes back to sleep. I can get quite angry when the clock wakes me up, but I can't rely on no other, since I'm the first one to wake up in my family, as I leave very early to get to school in time. And recently I've been using my cellphone as an extra alarm clock, because I don't get that mad when it rings, because I set it on some song I like and not an irritating alarm sound :P And I can't wake up to radio-alarms. Let's say it's a talk show starting when my clock goes off, I keep on sleeping because I hear human voices, which makes me all sleepy and comfy, which results that I fall back in sleep again. The end of my long post :P Cheers and have a nice day!

If I know that I absolutely need to get up at a certain time, I tell myself over and over again, just before bed, that I need to get up by that time. I find that it works for me. The downside, however, is that my subconscience doesn't really allow me to sleep all that well. My mind is anxious all night long afraid that I'll sleep through the alarm and so I actually wake myself up several times throughout the night. If someone's got a better way of doing it...I'm all ears!
