Have you renovated your home? Parts like one room? The entire thing? What have

you done? I hired someone to redo a bedroom into a bathroom. There were plank floors and when they pulled them up, they almost fell into the in the basement. They put a sign on the door to not go in because the first step was a doozie. I designed the bathroom. I forgot the bedroom had two windows, so I designed the bathtub to be even with the window, I could have made a splash with my neighbors! Instead they built a wall over the window. They had to put new walls in, the old ones were over a hundred years old and looked it. It has a bathtub, washer, dryer, sink, outlets for electrical, three sets of lights (I told them plenty of lighting, but I didn't want to waste electricity), a medicine cabinet, a toilet and a drain in care the washer overflowed. If I didn't have a mountain of clothes there, it would have room for a table to do crafts and if I sewed, sewing. Your turn, what have you done or hired done?

Wow, you had alot of work done in your house. Hide the clothes so you can have a craft area. Two years ago we had our house painted and ceiling fans put in each room except the kitchen. New flooring also in our utility area around the washer and dryer. Two months ago we had that flooring removed and replaced. We had water damage from the sewer. They also removed some of the drywall where the washer was leaking. We replaced the washer and dryer also. We haven't had any big projects done in our house other than a shower replaced 5 years ago. The old one was beginning to leak and it's on the second floor. Didn't want the shower to end up in the lower level of the house. We've lived in this house for 35 years so we really haven't had very many repairs in that length of time. We are pretty fortunate.

Yes, you're very fortunate. We need to redo each wall in all the rooms except the bathroom (already done) and the living room. We have a long, long way to go. It's all on hold until I can get enough money to pay for something besides bills. I had the clothes cleaned up, my hubbie brought more down. I cleaned up the dining room table for a craft area, he put a bunch of stuff for me to sort on that. If he keeps this up, he's building me an outdoor craft area and a way to heat it, so help me. Thanks and take care.

He's really building you an outdoor craft area? If so, that's a neat idea. Sunlight is much better to work on a project, in my opinion.

We haven't renovated anything as we have all our festivals coming forward so we decided to clean the house , and now we made the pooja hall as a bed room and shifted all pooja items to the bed room , we have just interchanged the rooms , and we had also repaired one sofa where me and my brother broke one day when we were playing on it lol, and the bathroom door which had a broken latch has been replaced with a new one, only white washing is remaining .

I wish I could have just traded rooms, that would have been nice. What festival is coming? I love festivals. Is a Pooja Hall a religious room? I have a friend who is a Buddhist (spelling?) and he has made one room into a prayer/meditation room. You've done a few repairs and cleaning, those are both excellent starts, thanks and take care.

we did the basement, it was partially finished when we bought the house so all we did was put laminated floor, new trims and painted. it took a while because we didn't know how to place the laminated floor correctly. we didn't have to change any structure, electricity or plumbing because they were ok and we didn't want to add extra work to it or hire a professional that could cost us a bundle. we also had the roof repaired because apparently it was leaking. we need to change the bathtub so it looks more modern but it won't happen soon we are still saving for that.

Back in 1999 I had a second bathroom added, and added what amounted to another kitchen amount of space to the back of my house. We added that second bath, a small room to the back of the house that we normally have the cat boxes in, cleaning supplies and the freezer. It also added more room to the kitchen. I also had the tub taken out of the orginal bath and had a low step in shower done. While we were at it we had all the plugs reworked, and the walls painted in all the but 2 rooms (we kept the cats locked in rooms they weren't working in and finally in one of the 2 rooms the remodeling didn't effect. Later I painted and had an electrician come in and did one of the rooms not done then, this was just a small bedroom so it wasn't needing major work. Finally, in 02 I had them come out and get the last room done. This one was a garage that had been inclosed, but poorly. Now the floor was leveled and brought up to the rest of the house, a badly made closet was removed, more windows were put in and the room was painted. So, most of my house has been remodeled, but now I wish I hadn't had tile put on the counters in the kitchen and the kitchen should be repainted again. Ahh well....

And actually my mom owns this one. But since I'm slated to inherit it we've been trying to get it accessable for when I get older, but I'm sure not getting any healthier

Owning a house, the work is never completely done it seems. You needed as much work done as mine needed, but yours is mostly done, I'm still working on getting the money for mine. Thanks and take care.

It's terrific that you're able to make all the renovations. Many people wish they had done that when they were able to, later on they often have a lack of time or money. Usually money. So terrific thinking ahead. Take care

We hired people to completely remodel our kitchen about a year and a half ago. We took down the wall between the kitchen and living room, to open it up and have a "great room". All the cabinets and even the sink were pulled out. The tile was broken up and removed. Wallpaper was stripped (we actually did that part). We had all new cabinetry, a new sink, and all new kitchen appliances installed. We had a window seat built in and even had a table custom built to go with the window seat. We also had a cookbook shelf built near the window seat. My husband and I designed the kitchen. And it turned out great!

With the exception of tearing down a wall, that sounds like all the stuff I need done. OOOOOOHHHHHHHH I can dream I guess. Maybe someday we'll have $ again. Thanks and take care.

I need to do a little repair of our stairs, one board is loose, but we have so many other things that I'm not sure when that will get done. If it gets too bad, we'll just nail it in place. So you tore them all out and started all over? Were they that bad, or did you want to chagne the style? Thanks for responding.
