Why all the hate?

It seems like people really like to make a point of saying they absolutely hate things. Even if they don't know anything about them.
I see it a lot on forums where people say they like something popular, various people will come in all "that sucks and you suck for liking it."
And it's almost always over something so trivial. Like Twilight, Naruto, fast food restaurants, or Apple products.
I like to make a point of asking why they hate those things enough to hate someone else for liking it. I almost never get a response. It seems like they're just trend-dodging most of the time. And I find it pathetic.
What do you think about people like this? Do you know anyone who vocalizes their opinion where it's not welcome? What about judging people based on their interests? Do you avoid popular things just because they're popular?

I don’t know why this people hate others because of their choice. One thing for sure I’m not one of them. People doing that are judgmental and narrow minded. If they don’t respect other people’s opinion they don’t deserve to be respect and it is better to keep what ever they have to say to their self. It is okay to voice out your opinion but don’t be so judgmental just because of other people have different preference than you do.
