Hi, there fellow myloters. I think someone intelligence should not be purely based on a person ability to memorise facts and in figures but also based on common since and there ability to make good life choices, and there tolerance and kindness to others, also knowing the difference between right and wrong, I think its important to educate your self through books, and other things, but its also important to be a well rounded person and a open minded person and I think there are many different kinds of intelligent people in the world. how about you how do you measure someones intelligence?

I think there are different forms of intelligence.
You have book learning intelligence. That's the kind most people think of. People who are able to learn and retain large quantities of information. These people have an innate ability to retain information for long periods of time. Involved with this is the ability to not only hold the information, but to apply the information in different circumstances. They can manipulate the information they hold in new and different ways to solve problems.
There is practical intelligence, commonly referred to as common sense. This is a form where someone is able to intuit solutions to problems based on some kind of innate understanding of how the world works. They can manipulate their understanding so they can face new and complicated situations with a practical solution. They may or may not be in possession of "book learning," however, if they do have book learning as well, they can be quite a powerhouse.
Artistic intelligence is an understanding having to do with any form of artistic expression. It is something that most people are born with rather than learned. There is an inborn ability to understand and manipulate the tools of the art form to create things of beauty. Artistic here can mean everything from the traditional arts to practical things like carpentry, auto mechanics and architecture.
And people intelligence. Some of us have the ability to understand other people in a way that is unique. They understand the complex motivations of people and can explain the often inexplicable. They are open-minded and tolerant, eager for further information. These people can become con-men, teachers, psychologists, leaders, etc. But this intelligence is normally attributed to the heart and not the mind, however it is all connected.
Intelligence is a combination of they types listed above (and that is list doesn't define all the types there are), but it shows the different forms intelligence can take. Being intelligence is far more than a function of an I.Q. score, or MENSA membership. Intelligence is also incredibly subjective. There are people we feel are very intelligent, but others would say are stupid.
As for how I measure someone's intelligence, I look at the whole person. Just because someone doesn't have a large educational background doesn't immediately mean they are ignorant and vice versa. I admire other people's talents. I try to learn from the people I meet. Socrates said it first, but Green Day said it well, "all I know is that I don't know."
Thanks for a great question.

I agree with a lot of what you rote. and I think that there are many factors that make someone intelligent, I think its a combination of many things that make a person smart, and like you said there are different kinds of intelligent people, and I look at the whole person I dont judge someone by there IQ score and assume that if they aren't hanging out in the library everyday that there automatically stupid, but I do appalled those who dedicated there lives to study because it takes a lot of commitment to do that, and I respect people like that, but Iv also met people who are really book smart but seem to be uneducated in other areas.

It's unfortunate, but I've noticed that a lot of people who are book smart lack quite a bit in common sense. Sometimes, I think they become so fixated on analysing all angles, they fail to see the logical solution sitting right in front of them. It leads them to make very simple things very complicated, which in the end makes them more indecisive than they really need to be.
However, I agree that people who dedicate themselves to study choose a difficult path. Intellectual endeavor, while not as physically demanding as other professions, is exhausting. People think that because you sit behind a desk all day reading a book, it's not work, but using your mind can be as draining as other physically demanding careers. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the physical benefits that the other work has. :)

Hi, there. I believe intelligence is something that should (not) be measured through the amount of books you read, or how many facts a person can memorise but it is measured by how well you apply what you learn in life as well as through studying I thank there are many factor's that make a person intelligent.

I agree with you 100% about education yourself threw books. When I was young child my family did not hardly have any books to read in the house and when I became a adult I started collecting and reading books non-stop , I crave to learn many things and I'm thankful for the public library and bookstores because I have learn so many things and I'm self taught to do many things because of books. I also base intelligence with having good common sense also and the ability to make good life choices .And if a person quickly learns from there mistakes is somebody who is intelligent in my book :).

Intelligence is about someone's ability to use information they have been exposed to. In face, I think that is the technical term for it. I know a lot of people who are dumb as doorknobs and I know they're not intelligent because they waste their time on simple things. Who knows if they could do "smart" things?

I agree with you. Another way to evaluate intelligence that I personally think is relevant is the ability to solve problems. Anyone can work a formula that has been created for you, but not everyone can come up with the formula to solve the problem. Those first mathematicians who created our formulas were brilliant, also inventors, and engineers... all the problem solvers out there.

what makes a person intelegent is the ability of thinking faster then the others , and resolving things faster too and more exactly then any body else, that makes the member intellegent, I'll give an exemple : look at who work hardly mathematics ,there are some people who find this subject soo difficult and there are some others who take it as a mind refresh , what is the diffrence between them?? it is the ability of thinking fast , and chosing the right way in short time ... Generally intelligence is precious thing that can not being gotten by some rules or ways, people get born intelligent and improve it or deprove it with life experiences.

Intelligence is very complicated and I don't think there is currently no fool proof method of measuring it. IQ tests aren't too bad, but do they measure creativity? They don't, they also don't measure musical intelligence either.
There are savants with incredible memory capabilities but IQs less than 100. There are people with higher IQs than einstein, does that make einstein less intelligent than these people? I would say that neither are more intelligent, as there is no fool proof method of measuring the intelligence. Einstein had a very good imagination and he used this ability in his "thought experiments".

I think it is about finding the best solutions to a problem and applying them to solve that problem are what make someone really intelligent. For me intelligence is our ability to solve problems no matter how simple or complex they may be. Our solutions may vary but of course the one with the best solution are usually considered intelligent.

Hey there! For me an intelligent person is the one with experience. Nothing beats that one. A person with experience know the right thing to do while an intelligent person with less experience only knows what he thinks is right.

When it comes to knowing the right thing to do, I tend to go with my gut feeling and my heart, and experience dosent necessarily mean a person will automatically know the right thing to do, experience helps but its also important to listen to your natural instinct as well as your life experience Iv known people in my life who felt that they had more experience then me and you know what they did have more life experience, but for some reason I knew somethings and warned them of the situation but they didnt listen because they had more life experience then I did and they automatically thought I was wrong and they later found out I was right. and to me true intelligence is keeping and open mind and not making assumption's or judgement's about other people and your ability to solve tough problems in life.

Hey there! Those people you mention, to me they are intelligently dumb. They already have experience but they don't make good use of it. It could be too that situation was something new to them or maybe they did not use their experience but their ego. If you have experience you should know how to listen, you should know how to weigh facts and not just make a conclusion like an inexperience person. Experience doesn't really mean relying on your own knowledge or your own experience it self, life is continuous and everyday is an experience and there's a lot of thing to learn. Okay, I'll pick both guts and heart, and experience. They go hand in hand. But we won't know what the outcome is if we haven't tried it. But, if you were in the same situation before then you will not have a hard time thinking what's the right thing to do. You cannot just make s decision without basing it on facts, and where do you get those facts? Thru experience. True guts and heart is important in making the right decision, but guts and heart make a decision after the brain weighed the facts. You even admitted it your self that you rely on experience.
I say both guts and heart, and experience go hand in hand, but experience comes first.

I measure someones intelligence by how well they speak and what they speak about. If the only current event they can talk about is Brittany Spears....well... There is no reason in our society to be uneducated. Every American has materials at their disposal and if they are still ignorant it is because they make that choice. To me, an intelligent person can talk about history, current affairs, and many other varied subjects and has formed an opinion of those subjects based on their research or thoughts. A person may have a different opinion that I do, but that doesnt make them not intelligent (its just makes them wrong lol). I think the people who have no opinion on anything and dont care to know more about the world we live in choose ignorance....and to some that is bliss.

I kind of agree with you I can talk about almost anything as well as pop culture I know about the different things that are going on in the world today and I think that true intelligence is through open mindedness and understanding and willingness to learn new things and not judging others.

i think basically human born the same. no one is clever than other. the difference will start when you start to learn from your environment and depend on the nutrition you got from your food. also the one thing is sure that you are intelligent when you think and want and believe that you are intelligent

To me intelligence is possessed by someone who isnt small minded or judge people, also educationally smart and aware of what is going on in the world. I think you can tell by talking to someone whether they are intelligent or not.

Hi, i think someone intelligent are the person who explore their knowledge by searching an articles in the books or library. By exploring their ability to manage or to lead a group, even though they didn't have an experience.
