Do you have animal shelters in India? If you do, I would suggest that you take your girlfriend to a shelter to pick out her own kitty for her birthday. She will find one that captures her heart. It is very very hard to pick out a pet for another person. The best cats are mixed breeds. If you get a cat from a shelter, you will be saving a life. I hope you have shelters in India.

Blindfold her and take her to the shelter. That would be a big surprise. It's better that she has the perfect cat than is surprised.

yeah they are right. go to animal shelter. you'll only pay a minimal fee unlike if you buy it in pet shop it's too expensive. here in US cats are like $50 or so. also you may check on craigslist.com if you have that in india. some people just give out free kittens or free cats. they post pics too. all you have to do is call them

What a thoughtful gift and you are very sweet to think of it! I would check with an animal shelter, if there are any in your area. If not, check with veterinarians. They may know of some one with kittens to give away. Also, please remember that full grown cats also can be wonderful and loving pets. So often they are overlooked. Whatever you end up with, I hope you post a picture of the newest family member for us to see!
