Page rank: I finally got a 1

I started blogging last April using blogspot as my host and I didn't know back then about page ranks, nor did I care. When I later learned about it, I was constantly checking though it didn't seem to budge from zero. 
After a few months I got a domain and transfered some of my posts there. And it hasn't even been a month yet, but when I checked, I already have a 1 in google page rank. Weeee!
Do you think having a domain helped in boosting the rank? But I saw some blogspot blogs that also have good ranks, so I doubt that matters much. What do you think?
Do you have already have a page rank? Does it matter to you? If it does, would you display it on your site? I don't know where to place mine.
And if you're interested, you should check your rank again, because google just updated recently. I've read in another blog, and that's why I checked mine.

Well done on getting your blog ranked. It may just be that it has more posts on it now, or that it has more backlinks from other high ranked sites.
I don't know if domain blogs do better in the rankings than free blog hosts.
My first blog has its own domain and paid hosting, and it has PR2. I don't promote it much and I think it got its rank from quality backlinks and regular posting.
My new blog is just one month old and already has PR1. It's hosted on a free blog site, and I have been working hard to get it ranked. It has 26 posts and three pages and I am hoping to get a better rank as it grows, and with more good backlinks.

I don't think it's about he number of posts, because my previous blog has more posts than this one. This site currently has 9 posts since it's just a month old.
And I'm not very good at promoting either. Even with my old blog. When you say quality backlinks, you mean by other related sites linking to you, and links you provide when you comment on others' sites, right? I don't have the former, but I've been commenting on some blogs. And I'm poor at links exchange too. I currently have two (non-related) blogs linking to my site, but at least they both have a page rank of 3. I guess that's helps.
Well, I'm happy I have a page rank. And no, I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering.
