With all of the news the last couple of weeks being about how the government is going to "bailout" the economy and head an economic depression off at the pass, I believe the American people have missed one important point of all this. The point is, it doesn't matter! It didn't matter before the "bailout" and it most assuredly doesn't matter after the "bailout" because what the government was trying to prevent will more than likely happen anyway and now we have another 700+ billion dollar debt to pay! What really gets me about this is how, even when the FACTS prove otherwise, Barack Obama still blames all of this on "Bush's failed policies", unbelievable! No matter what GWB has done in the last 7+ years that people don't like or disagree with him on, the only supremely wrong step he made on the economy came just last weekend when he signed a pork-filled "bailout" betrayal package! FACT: Jimmy Carter signed The Community Reinvestment Act and then years later Bill clinton strengthened that act with some mandates of his own which involved relaxing of credit laws and regs so that many people who couldn't qualify for homes in the past could buy them under the new conditions! Here is an article I have posted before which atests to this: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MWU2ODgzNzg2MmIyN2Y3ZWFjY2ZlODVmMTgzYjMwMjY= FACT: In 2003, George W. Bush, seeing the handwriting on the wall, proposed some pretty strict oversight and regulatory changes to the way Fannie and Freddy do business! Here is what Barney Frank, Representative from MA said: ''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.'' Who knew GWB had such insight? Here is the entire article: http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E06E3D6123BF932A2575AC0A9659C8B63&sec=&spon=&pagewanted=print The proposal was voted down, of course! FACT: Just 3 years later, John McCain (name ring a bell?)introduced new regulatory legislation that might have spared the debt ridden Freddie and Fannie a lot of grief (not to mention the American taxpayer)! Here is an article providing the name of McCain's bill (toward bottom of page) and of course, it was voted down also: http://sweetness-light.com/archive/bush-mccain-tried-to-reform-housing-finance Now, tell me Obama (or his supporters), just how is the financial crisis a result of GWB failed policies? I do hope some saavy voter calls Obama's hand on that one tonight at the townhall debate!

GWB gave tax breaks to companies to move over seas. These were HIGH paying jobs. For some reason I don't think that it helped our economy, but it helped China became the new superpower.

The truth is that both the big ticket candidates and Bush sold their souls to the devil in this and sold ours down the river. this was more than just a financial rescue or bail out, it was an outright financial coup. Has anyone else read the whole bill? It essentially created a 4th government branch with little to no check from the other branches. The way it was done was both unconstitutional and illegal. I have written extensively on this in other posts so I won't elaborate here. This was a disgusting piece of legislation.

Wow, this is a well researched and phenomenal post. A little cynical, but in these times who can not afford to be a little cynical. And all the little "sweeteners" they put in this package to swing the vote in favor of the approval? Some of which benefit the common man, but most don't. I have to agree with you, this whole bailout bill smells like B.S.
