Yes I was. The competition was stiff. Our school system here was exam orientated. It was exams throughout my student days. The worse part was if one fails in any of the exams then we were retained in the same class for another year until we get thru those exams. But I managed to pull through at every stage. But now the education system here has changed to a flexible one. Failures are also upgraded and this makes the education less quality. But education is not all about studies and books, we learn from our everyday life.

I wasn't studious, by the time I hit my early teens, I was always having a headache, made studing very hard. turned out the headaches were caused by food allergies, and maybe my grades would've been better if we had known BEFORE I did another 10 years of school - middle, high and college.

Hi there! Studies were never my cup of tea. I was not at all studious. I used to study only 1 month before my exams. Thanks to my brain which I think is very sharp, I never flunked in any division throughout my academic years. My belief is "To study is not important, what is important is, TO Learn".

I think I just an average student, not quite studious but not lazy. I study when it is needed, like when we have a test or if it is our mid-term or final exams. I'll do my assignments and do my best when reporting, but other than that I enjoyed my free time as much as I can. I don't seriously study when I think it is alright not to study. hehe,

i was never studious i'm afraid my brother is older then me and set a bad impression of what i may be like to teach and never really got a chance to prove them wrong so i didn't bother which i regret in some ways now even though i got the grades i kinda wanted.

I was one of those studious students at my schools, but it almost came crashing down because of those numbnut bullies, harassers and jackasses who want to ruin it by making fun of me when they had nothing to do. That's why i've started doing projects by myself when it calls for a team, and hanging out at the library when it's lunchtime. I try to keep to myself, but they were at it again. It was rough when I was in school, let me tell you. Nevertheless, I still graduated, no thanks to my family, and no thanks to anyone else. I was just glad as hell to just get out of there. Good riddance.

Hey, ur discussion just reminds me of my childhood and school days. Ur description completely applies on me. I had been very studious during my school time. Till 6th standard, my mother used to teach me and i would top my class. Infact, i had received several awards for general proficiency during school time. But as you mentioned, after my mom left me to myself, and i started doing self-studies, I got more involved in extra-curricular activities and ofcourse,my concentration got deviated from my studies. My position in class gor down and i would stand 3rd in class. Infact, in 10th standard, i even got a warning from my Maths teacher for deteoriating in my studies. But i came back well, and topped my school in Boards. After that, I left for home and went to a different city for my studies in 11th and 12th grades and since then i have been away from home. I am still good in studies, but still not focussed. I get more and easily engaged in extra-curricular activities and games rather than my studies.. Seriously speaking, there is no solution. Infact, this is the way life should be. There should be an equal balance between studies and extra-curricular activities.

I actually was. I was even an honor student and an achiever back then. I wanted competition and I never hesitate to compete and be the best in school activities. School is very fun. I love going back to my school and see my friends grow and reach their dreams.

I was never like a studious person who is always engaged in his studies.Till 8th standard i used to study only at exam time and that only for one hour maximum. After 8th class also the conditions and method of study was same, the only difference was that now I had to study more hours at exam time. Now I am doing engineering and the study method is still the same and I study the whole night before the exam day. My strong point in study is that my mathematics is very strong and I have got solid concepts in maths. This helps me in many subjects also. Regarding the problem of children getting distracted from studies I would suggest that extra curricular activities are also very necessary but a fixed time should be given to that and first priority should be study. My parents used to say one thing that "If you will do hard work in your study age then you will enjoy for the whole life and if you will enjoy in the study age then you will be suffering in your whole life." In addition to this I would say one more thing that if any children has no intrest in study but he or she is very good in some other extra curricular activities than that interest should also be encouraged as he or she can adopt that field as his carrer.

It's quite a discipline to be studious. You kind of get attracted to the popular trends or going against it. Depends on the timing. I was doing great up until high school. A rough patch made it hard to get back on the same road but you take it for what it is. My grades dropped but I stilled graduated in the top 50. If you question if you did your best and if that's important, academics may be a great place to start off with developing your skills and talents. When you get into the working world, that's help you with social life and job.

Hi nutanjain, I don't know what is like now being student bu in my days we had to knuckle down and work hard in our studies, if we get low marks our parents will get mad and we were scare of our parents so we had to work hard and our teachers were very strict so there was no slacking. Tamara

Hi there..Well I had a quite opposite student life, unlike others.I never used study till my 6th standard. My parents got fed up with me.They asked my brother to teach me something, which never worked for me.For that we both used to fight. Then my parents made me join in different tuitions.Even then it dint works for me.Till then I never got passed in mathematics, always promoted to higher class. Then in my 8th class,I joined in a tuition, where some girls were toppers. Then I really got boosted up,that when girls can study that well, then why cant I.From then I never failed in maths, and I improved my percentage. Now I am a topper in my class. In my life, girls gave me inspiration. Now some people come to me, to clear their doubts in mathematics. My life's graph never came down form then. Now I get diverted to small things, but I'll be able to manage to keep my percentage and my rank in my class.I believe that there are two ways of living life's,..1)We should wait for time to change us and 2)Forget everything and work hard to reach your goal, for which you need not wait for time to come and change you..Have a nice day..!!!Keep smiling!!!
