I took a short summer course in typing when i was in college... so i am able to type words without looking at the keyboard... but when it comes to the other characters... i can't because when that was being practised in the course... i was absent because i had chicken pox...

I normally type with touch typing at a great speed as I was trained as a secretary and has worked for many years. This is my greatest advantage as I can type blindly without looking at the keys. I make a lot of typing mistakes if I type while looking at the keyboard.

I was taught to type with touch type so now if I look at the keyboard I get confused about where my keys are at. I drive my kids nuts by looking in a completely different direction and typing nonstop cause they can't do it. I have bought stuff for them to learn to type with touch type but they have taught themselves to type with looking and can't seem to do it any other way.

Well, I can type pretty fast without looking at the keyboard for the alphabets only, coz those are the commonly used keys on the keyboard. I actually improved my typing skills by chatting with friends a lot in the Internet last time. As I seldom use the number keys and other special characters while chatting with friends, so I can't really type those keys fast. I guess my fingers are only familiar with the A - Z keys.

I can type over 100 words per minute with out looking at the key board or even looking at the monitor with very little to no mistakes at all. I can use the number keys with out looking also and also the shift keys about them like the percent and the at and the and keys. I do make mistakes sometimes but very very rarely.

I'm not sure about rapidly but I generally type without looking at the keyboard. I think I probably type about 40 words per minute. As I was typing this I noticed that I did look at the keyboard only once and that was when I typed 40.... hey I didn't look that time. I guess I sometimes look for the numbers and sometimes don't. I wonder why that is? I guess I'm not as confidant with the numbers as I am with the letters. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

I have my keyboard on a keyboard tray - and it is UNDER the desk so unless I pull it out, I can't see it anyway. Of course, I did do data entry for almost 15 years.
