What do you think about extra class or tuition?

Extra class or tuition are class that attend to get extra knowledge beside classes at school. Many student attend extra classes. Some parents encourage their children to go for extra class. Parents willing to spend money to get their children better in studies. I am curious to know what you think about extra class or tuition? Does it really help or just waste money and time? Why you think like that?
