What activities are your kids into? Does it keep you really busy?My 11 year old and 5 year old son are both in soccer at the moment. We have practice on Mondays and Tuesdays and 2 games on Saturdays. Soon my daughter will be starting ballet, jazz, and baton. Ballet and Jazz will be on the same night right after school. Baton will be on Saturdays. Soccer doesn't end until November, so I'll be pretty busy for the next couple weeks.

My daughter doesn't do too many extra-curricular activities, and I feel guilty about that sometimes. But then I have to ignore my feelings of guilt cause there isn't any money right now for that kind of thing. But she does love playing in the yard.

Most sports and things really aren't that expensive. We're quite lucky here, soccer is only $35 per kid, as is baseball. When we first signed my daughter up for dance it was only $3 a class, paid monthly, plus the cost of the costume. Now it's a base rate of like $15 a month, or $65 for the year plus costume. Baton is only $40. Sometimes they'll give you a fundraiser to earn the money back too, or at least part of it. That's how it worked in the last town we lived, which is good because the cost was $50 for 1 kid for soccer. But the fundraiser helped us earn $25 back.

You have a lot on your plate. My daughter is only 3 and she has loads of extra curricular activities. She takes swimming classes and piano classes. She started ballet this year but its only a preliminary course that they do at school and next year they will have them after school. She loves it. Its just pricey.

We are very lucky here, our PTO offers the dance classes, ballet, jazz or tap at a very reasonable price. It's about $65 for the year, it runs from Oct to April and there is a recital in April. The costumes are usually inexpensive as well, we have a $25 deposit by November than have to pay the remaining when we pick up the costumes in April, and the past 2 years the remainder has been $10 or less. This is the first year she's doing 2 dance classes, last 2 years she's only done ballet.

My son is in Boy scouts which meets three times a month, one with the Pack and twice with his Den as well as any other fundraising activities we are involved in, which could mean the odd Saturday selling popcorn and such. He has swimming lessons on Thursdays for and has just joined an afterschool sports program on Fridays for 6 weeks. Every other Tuesday he has a playdate with some friends after school. So you could say three days out of the week is for his activities with the occasional weekend event for Scouts.

My kids are not in any extra curricular activities at the moment. My 8 year old wants to take Karate and I was thinking about getting my 20 month old into gymnastics when she turns 2. They have classes starting at that age.
