Update on my cousin

She had her thyroidectomy yesterday. The doctor sent the nodule off to pathology fully expecting cancer, but there was none! YAY! That is such a relief. They said he couldn't believe it, he was sure she had cancer. I'm so glad she didn't. Her neck is sore but that's to be expected. Otherwise she is doing good. Now when she heals from this she has to have back surgery...UGH!

Sounds like its just the beginning, glad she's free of that cancer burden.

Me too! Doesn't make much since why the doctor thought it was cancer when he did a biopsy, but oh well. At least it wasn't. It's always better to get good unexpected news than bad.

I will, thank you. From what I've heard the recovery isn't tooooo bad after thyroid surgery, but it is still surgery. The body has to get over the shock.

What wonderful news! I'm glad to read that your cousin is cancer free and that the operation went well. I'm sure there were quite a few tense moments until the pathology report came back! Hope she gets well soon, and has a successful back operation too.

Thank you. I don't think they were tense because they'd already been told it WAS cancer. It was more like shock finding out it wasn't. One of the really good kind of gifts...getting better news instead of worse!

What great news, no cancer! That must have made her feel about 90% better. Hate to hear about the back surgery, but the knowledge she doesn't have cancer will hopefully propel her forward through whatever she must conquer. So glad to hear about this, sunnflr. Thanks for sharing.

I know! I was so happy when I heard. I hope she can get through the back surgery in a few months and then have things settle down in her life.
