I liked this hairspray movie very much and it is the first full length musical I watched. Are there any other good movies like it? Also I like light comedies like truman show. Can you refer me some.

"Mamma Mia" and "Grease" are good choices. A lot of the movie musicals from the 40s and 50s are good, as well. "Singin' in the Rain" is one of my favorite films.
My favorite composer, Stephen Sondheim, wrote a very funny musical that they made into a decent film- "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."
Any Rogers and Hammerstein musical is fantastic. They aren't quite fluff, but they're classics- "Sound of Music", "Oklahoma", "South Pacific", et c.
"Rent" is a good musical, although parts are quite sad. "Sweeney Todd" is one of the best musicals ever written, but it is very dark. "Chicago" is funny and fun, but a little dark as well.

I loved Phantom of the Opera movie version as well as the Chicago movie version. I am trying to get my hands on Rent because I think that would be a great movie musical to see.

All the said titles are great classical ones. But recently I've seen one of the greats, of all time. The title is called "Dancer in the Dark" the story is so haunting and very serious but the genius work of the director Lars Von Trier made a well executed movie that later bagged the prestigious best film in cannes film festival in France. The movie stars real life music artist Bjork as a nice czech migrant to the US, she found out that she's going blind. SO her goal is to save up for an operation for her son. The movie is so touching and at the same time disturbing. It is a musical movie to be precise but the story telling is really mind boggling.

A couple that haven't been mentioned yet are Little Shop of Horrors and Rocky Horror Picture Show. Despite the titles, they are both comedies, and a little ridiculous but fun for what they are. The cast of the 1986 movie version of Little Shop is a veritable Who's Who of Saturday Night Live and Second City alumni. The only person I recognized from the cast of the 1960 version is Jack Nicholson.

Also, check out the original movie version of Hairspray. It was released in 1988, directed by John Waters (who also wrote and directed Cecil B. DeMented and Cry-Baby) and starred Ricki Lake as Tracy Trunblad and real-life drag queen Divine as Edna Turnblad.
