If it wasnt for Manuel Quezon, the Philippines would be still under the American rule. But at the time of Manuel Quezon, the Philippines has an abundance of patriotic and nationalistic Filipino statesmen. They persevered for the fight for our freedom and they succeeded. The Americans gave us democracy and we started failing as a nation as time went on.
We should thank the Americans for helping us get rid of the Spanish colony. The spaniards did little to improve our country but when the Americans came along, our economy went a bit stronger.
If the Filipinos just allowed the Americans to be sovereign over us we would be a part of their country. the Philippines would be a part of the United States of America.
Say our country today is a member state of the USA, imagine all the progress around. It would be nice.
Are we better off without the Americans? i think not.

I think you should read Philippine history again... and even parts of American History when the Philippines was still under its rule...
The U.S. never had the intention of keeping the Philippines or even to make it one of it state... that is why it was so easy for them to give the reigns of the government to MLQ... the sole purpose of the Philippines for them is for economic and trading purposes only...

I think that is true. I have not heard anything about American offering us to be their next state. They saw that we Filipinos back then were very eager to stand on our own. What they just did was to establish the government to be friendly with their country and take them as partners but they never got interested in taking us as part of their own.

there's one reason why Philippines was declined by the US Congress way back...According to them, Philippines was not that attractive compared to Hawaii way back prior to WWII and it would only darken their preliminary gift which is the Commonwealth to establish an even more prepared sole government.

Are you unhappy just because our country haven't been part of USA? Or do you regret the fact that you were born a Filipino?

im unhappy with our current government and the trends that come out of it where society makes it a status quo. they simply accept it because its just the way it is. i want our country to be ruled by another nation that is more capable and more reliable in resurrecting dilapidated nations such as ours than to rely on our unfit, corrupt leaders who only bring about lilliputian change. our leaders are only mocking us. do they really care for all those poor Filipinos out there? as in like really have that sensitivity and pure compassion? if they do then i would expect them to make gargantuan, dramatic changes but they dont! they just simply dont give a d*mn! i say let those foreigners take hold of us for the poor Filipinos' sake.

Are we better off without the Americans? Oh yes, we're better off by ourselves and not under some foreign rule or whatsoever.
The American people are more depressed over their economic situation now, why should we be among them? LEt's just be friends with them but not be under them.

are you really sure? where are you when they teach history? can I suggest that you read again your books. We should thank the Americans for helping us get rid of Spaniards? do you really know what you are talking about? they pay, they bought us from Spain and yes we really do have to THANK them for involving us with their war with Japanese. Our economy got stronger? oh yes we have become export oriented import dependent country (or I say semi colony?) we export raw material and we import made products from the raw material we exported. is that the economy you are saying? and do you think Us would make us one of their states? oh no, why would they do that? they would not want to lose one of the cheapest raw material market they have. Our country has long been exploited by the US. you know what, our country is like a slave in a house, the family can never include the maid as part of the family but they can never live without the made. We are exploited by this country, I really wonder where you get you history courses.
And for your question
Are we better off without US?
Of Course! we were better off if they do not control our government and exploit our people and natural resources.
