The interest rankings are weird man! WEIRD I tell ya!

I have no idea what the deal is with interest rankings? Seriously! I have been very active in the "Life" section lately and posted a number of topics with over 200 responses combined; as well as answered many other life section topics myself. Yet my "Life" interest ranking has gone from less than 50 to almost 200??
Man, we must have to be unbelievably active then to make some progress in this regard! I wouldn't normally care about stuff like this but I find it intriguing.
NOTE: Mylot, I am certainly not trying to work out any algorithm's here so don't go getting funny on me! 
So do you care about where you sit in interest rankings? Would you like to be number one in any particular interest? Why?

It's indeed weird James.
Its only when my friend here pointed out about my high ranks in a few categories, a few months back that I bothered to explore it a bit. It's the most confusing thing here for you would have no idea the next day where do you stand! And also you better not try to figure out the algorithm, it's weird, I tell you.
But 1 is an alluring figure and I would not deny that it would feel great to have that tag beside mine. Especially, since I am an eternal no. 2.

I will never try to work out the algorithm, no way. I am sure it is way too complex for my feeble mind anyways! lol. At least you have made it to number 2 in places. I can't even seem to get into the Top 10 of anything let alone second. I would love to be number 1 in Life but I can't seem to do enough to come close. Thanks for responding and you will always be number one in "Mimpi" so be thankful for that at least!

These numbers actually depend largely on the total number of competitors and also the credibility of them. Like a no 10 out 100 is more special that a no. 2 out of 10, isn't it?
I wish you luck in your life and would always want to see you at the zenith.

For me, the interests rankings are just numbers. I don't really care if I'm at the top or bottom of the list or any lists for that matter... well unless, it affects your earnings... does it? Hmmm... but I wouldn't think so though.

No I don't believe it has any effect on earnings Avi_Gan and as I said, I don't really care about these things either usually. I just assumed that increased activity in this section would RAISE my ranking and not lower it! I found it odd is all. Thanks for responding to the discussion.
