how did your grandson's or grandaughter's cope with his/her first day in school

My grandson was crying and he did not want his Daddy to leave him in school.For one month either his daddy or mommy would accompany him together with his young sister.Until one day he said he can go alone.How did your grand children cope with their first day in school?
