All of us are cutting back. Some of us are struggling to pay bills, and even to eat. I saw this and got even more angry. These jokers do not live in the real world. AIG's post-bailout spa trip angers lawmakers. Crippled insurance giant spent $440,000 on a posh retreat for its executives. Days after bailout, executives enjoyed spa treatments, banquets, golf outings. Former AIG CEO Robert Willumstad: "It seems very inappropriate" "Those executives should be fired," Barack Obama says in presidential debate. So do you agree with Obama? Fired Or should there be a harsher penalty? What would it be? http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/08/politicians.meltdown.aig.ap/index.html

I believe that the consequences should have three parts. Everyone who participated in this retreat should #1, have to pay back whatever portion of the bill they ran up. #2 should be fired, for not having more common sense, and #3 should have some jail time for defrauding the American public, and I just thought of something else, they need to work in a homeless shelter as community service.

I agree with you. I like the homeless shelter idea. To bad there is no way to see that it happens.

I agree that they should at least be fired. Did those CEOs not think that this was going to get out? It's like, "Yay, we're being bailed out by the government/American people's tax dollars. Let's go spend it!"

I think that executives shoould be punished for their wrong doings. Wasting money on spas is not wise considering the AIG's financial position. If it were for me I would try to make them pay for it.

Amen to that. We struggle every day here too. I read another discussion a while ago about this. The economy is never going to get back on track if something is not done about these things. I think Obama would do good for all of us.

If anything, reduce their salary. Aww shoot, hit the road jack, you can come back if need be. Spa Treatments?? retreats? banquets? all on the governments dime? hey ya'll, I'll be having a bash next Saturday at the biggest house in town; come as you are, food, massuers, dancing all on the man's dime if you please. Doesn't matter if your on the East Coast, West Coast, Mid West, I'll send a plane for ya!! It won't cost ya nothing. just be ready and I'll come get you!!

This is an outrage. They go off on a spa trip while American tax dollars is paying for their bailout. They should all be punished for this and made to pay back every single penny that was given to them plus a penalty fine. They also should lose their jobs.

I don't usually agree with anything Obama says. However, in this instance, I do. That does not mean that he would really fire them. He likes to say things so he appeals to the large majority of people.

That is some BS! It's like a slap in all the hard-working tax-payers faces! I know I work hard for my money and struggle on a daily basis, and then for them to mess up a whole company, only to be rewarded and go on a nice vacation retreat with spa and golf, it's just unbelievable to me. I think the whole situation is horrible and am very worried about our economy.
