As it was rainy and chilly all day Tuesday here in Minnesota, I stayed indoors playing games online, myLotting, and watching the TV. I went to get the mail was my only venture outside really during the day. Well once it came time to leave to pick my wife up from her job I got a huge shock. As I opened my door with keys in hand I noticed that it was so foggy I could not see across the street. It took me twice as long to drive to her job due to the thick heavy fog. I had not even looked out the windows most the day as it was too gloomy of a sight so this stunned me a bit. Have you ever sat indoors not looking outside due to bad weather? When was the last time you drove in fog so thick you could barely see 10 feet in front of you? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is the same with me. It rained off and on so I just worked online instead of doing other things. I also got some things done in the home also. I hate to drive in fog. It has been years since I have done that.

It was cool looking but hard to see. Normally a 20 minute drive and it took me 45 minutes. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I know exactly what you are talking about. I live in Colorado, in the eastern part. When we have cold weather it is so foggy I cant even see my car. Those are the days my butt stays home. About 2 years ago there was a bad snow storm where we had no power for 4 days and could not get out of our drive way. Well we had a quater of a mile driveway. So you could only imagine what i was going through. Talk about caain fever, on top of having a 3 year old boy.lol But we had good times and didnt realize when the power came back on. So to that, I have drove in fog so bad that i cant see. It happens all the time here out in Colorado. All i have to say is be very very careful when driving in the crap. I am glad you made it home in one piece. ( I hope! )

Our 'fog season' won't hit here for a couple more months. And I hate driving in the stuff! But at least it's not as thick here as it is further down the valley. There, it would be so bad that I couldn't even see the front end of my own car. I think the last time I drove in thick fog was a couple of years ago, since I usually make hubby do the driving then instead. LOL

It sounds like you did have a good indoor type of day yesterday. I love weather like that a lot of the time. The weather does not surprise me like that when indoors because in the living room I have big patio doors and can see outside as long as I am in here. Not sure when the last time to drive in the fog that bad, I don't like the thick fog unless I can stay indoors. That is too dangerous. I am glad that you made the trip to get your wife and home again with no problems.

I love going up North to the farm. Each morning almost all year I watch the fog roll in on the hay field. The frogs croaking in the creek and fog rolling in is the best it gets. I sat in the office mostly on the computer. Then in the living room watching TV I was reclining back on the couch. So I never looked outside. It was an easy drive actually as I do it 6 times a week. Sometimes I do the same thing...only when it's snowing and I don't realize how much we have actually gotten. For fog it's been a while but the last time I went to Wisconsin in June I left early in the morning....when I got to the low areas it was very foggy. When I was up higher then I could look down into the fog. It was kinda eerie!

I do that with snow. I shovel and use the snowblower so often during storms I never realize how much actually fell until there's a small mountain of snow piled along the edges of my driveway. That's what I loved about Duluth. Go up on the hill on the west side and watchj the fog roll in from high above. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The only time I am blissfully unaware of the weather outside is after dark, when I close up all the blinds in the house. One of the first things I do each day when I get up is open the living room blinds, and then the kitchen ones. My daily online time is spent on my laptop, which is in the living room. I sit on the couch and type, and my couch faces out the living room window. Because the blinds are open, I really cannot avoid seeing what the weather is like during the day. lol. Fog is fantastic! I don't drive, and so I don't have any experience with driving in fog, but I do recall watching a tv show years ago, where they did a study on driving in fog, using a computer simulation program. They found that the majority of people would drive faster in fog than in clear dry weather, because of an optical illusion effect of some sort. It was a reminder to me to pay close attention to the spedometer, and not rely on just how fast you think you're going.

I do the same except I don't have a laptop. I knew it was nasty all day. But after dark I see nothing from my office window. So I did not know it was so foggy oputside. I love to watch fog roll in a lot. So eerie yet awesome looking. One relates fog rolling to horror movies most times. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have noticed since I have moved to Florida along the Gulf Coast I rarley see any fog. I use to see it alot when I live dup north. It use to be so thick you could cut it with a knife. I have called in to work before when I could see in front of me. I hate driving in the fog. I would rather drive in teh snow. At least I can see what I am going to hit that way.

I am sometimes that way in the winter. It is chilly right now here in Kansas, but not gloomy, bright sun shining. Last year I often had to leave the house for my day job in heavy fog, or snow, or ice, etc. I am glad to be doing other things this year.

Yeah we get "cabin fever" here in Minnesota. That's what they call it from being indoors so much in the cold months. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I absolutely hate driving in fog. I find it terrifying to not be able to see if I am going to run off the road or hit a car or a person! I would much rather drive in snow....at least I can see! I also find fog rather scary in and of itself...I imagine it comes from the fact that most horror movies have a lot of fog! Ha!

The worst fog I ever drove in was also during the day - believe it or not. So, it was a bright, glary fog. I was on the highway and, to add injury to insult, I burst a blood vessel in my eye during all this and could barely see enough to find an exit and get off the highway.

You were fortuate you knew the roads..Last time I drove in a bad fog, it was to pick up my son from a friends house and I didn't know the roads very well..That was a nightmare, never knew if it would curve left or right or if I was coming to a stop sign..I am glad you made it back, safe and sound, I hate driving in the fog..(But I love the rain we are getting, don't have to water my hedges for a couple of days.. )

Yes I am glad I doi know the roads for this daily trip. The highways weren't too bad though. I live very near the Mississippi River so fog comes a lot off the river. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

There are some days that I live like a hermit..lol. I don't go outside all day, or even look out the windows like today, no I think I will walk to the mailbox in a little bit, I've been sitting here too long, my legs falling asleep..lol. The funny thing is, its beautiful today, the sun's shining bright and its the perfect temp. I don't know why I'm sitting inside today...haha. I don't remember the last time I drove in fog so thick, like I was saying in another discussion of yours, yesterday morning, there was a 25 car pile up here, because it was so foggy, I don't like going out on days like that, I was glad my husband made it to work okay.

Sat inside and not look outside, no, not unless I'm too sick, lol. I always check up on the gloomy weather hoping for better... As to the last time I had to drive in the fog. In the spring driving my middle one to preschool. I was soo afraid that I would get into an accident because the roads are badly marked. Walk though was this morning walking her (now a Kindergartener) and her older sister to the bus stop. Those two never had to actually walk in fog and they were totally creeped out (5 and 7, go figure!). It was still dark, too. They carry a flashlight (no light on the way except for maybe a porch light) but of course that didn't help in this mess, lol. And the bus was late and drove superslow. I don't blame him. That's a huge responsibility with all those kids in there.

Oh my gosh I the weather was pretty yucky here today too! Oh my gosh the weather was pretty yucky here today too! I to drive in fog like that. A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were going somewhere at night and it was foggy like that I mean you couldnt see 2 feet in front of the car. It was so scary! I made him pull over. He got so mad at me and then I had to listen to him fuss for 30 minutes. Oh my gosh I the weather was pretty yucky here today too! Oh my gosh the weather was pretty yucky here today too! Driving in fog that thick is treacherous. The lights glare off the fog making it even worse. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Ooooh, I hate that kind of driving... though I guess all it takes is going way slow.. It's still nerve wracking though. Not too long ago I had to drive home in blinding snow on ice. I went five miles an hour.. some guy passed me like "are you nuts?" but he didn't even get past me before he went in the ditch.. I even had to stop once or twice. Boy oh boy was I glad to get home!

I've had my share of dealing with bad weather. I've faced fog a few times where it was so thick, I couldn't see too far ahead. The danger is that someone might not see you and ram into you. Bad weather can cause a lot of disasters!
