haha.. That is a good one but some of these Nigerian scammers would reply back saying 'Thankyou so much for responding with your nice mail.. etc etc ' lool becuase some do not even know English and given templates to send out. Some do not even know what they are sending out but do it becuase told to as part of their job.. Believe me, most would not even know what you mean by FBI Think maybe another time is to play along and send fake information.. ooo a nice virus sent to their inbox be payback muhhahahah

The really sad part is that this older than dirt scam is still going around. To me, I guess I conclude that people still fall for it since it's still making the rounds. Good thing you know better and have your wits about you, but its really incredible that they are asking you for passport info. It's amazing to me that some poor soul somewhere is falling for it. I get them about once a week. I've got so many hundreds of millions of dollars awaiting me from Nigeria that I suppose I should just move there and claim it! LOL.... Mandy, when I do, I'll look up Prince Cosmos road contract and have him name the road after you! Stay safe online!!

yes obviously people are still getting fooled by these scams well i just done my bit for the community as just reported him, i hope will block his ip so not register again but probably use cybercafes as they normally do, in big groups.
I got used to many types of scam in tagged.com, sob stories too, and desperately need help...
i thought that too, about the passport, i never seen that in a scam before, only bank details, address etc lol One scam was someone that work for magazine and wanted to use my foto for front page haha, again needed my bank details to deposit me money.. Now someone could really fall for that type of scam.
Isnt it weird how Nigeria have all this money lol wow its richer then America

This scam is as old as the Internet itself. Most frequent users are hip to it. Really naive newbies would be the only ones who would fall for it. There's nothing you can do about it - I have an email program that allows me to bounce the email back to them and blocks them from ever sending to me again. Everyone ought to know NEVER respond to them and just ignore or block them. They really ought to be ashamed! What the heck makes them think it's a good way to make (steal) money!? The dummies!

Hi there, I have had so many of these emails asking for personal details that they could easily steal your identity with and still cant believe that they think that people will actually give them this information however why do they keep sending the emails if they get no responses clearly there are to people out there providing them with such information i think it is up to the individual to try and be vigilant however just make people aware as and when you have opportunity to. Not sure how you would go about reporting him though.

Don't ever reply to a message like this. Contact support on the site if you don't know how to report spam. Then delete the message. I don't know how they do it, but if you reply that gives them access to a lot of information about your computer etc, that they don't have just from your profile on the program.

I'll tell you one thing - these would look less like scams (but 95% of people would still recognize it as a scam) if the stupid people who came up with these chain letters would learn how to spell and use better grammar skills. The way these people talk, they learned English a month ago and it looks ridiculous - it's amazing anybody intelligent can even make heads or tails of it.
Sadly, I believe some elderly people have been taken in by things like that. I'm not sure why but it's bad that they get targetted. Most younger people are very suspicious and careful.

That was a very bad one for grammer and he say he is from England haha.. There is some that are perfect English becuase they are templates and people are employed to send them out, if you reply they do not reply to your response, infact i put it to test and got very nasty with one, he replied with very nice mail thanking me very much for responding etc etc.. It was obvious he had no idea of what id said lol
This guy i reported, earlier becuase someone just might fall for the scam and id hate for that to happen.
thanks for responding

hahahahah this is one of the many Nigerian scams out there...an former acquaintance of mine fell for one that said he had a relative killed on a construction site over there or something and the company was wanting money to send his stuff home or was trying to get the documents for the person's inheritance to him or something. So this dude sent this "company" almost $2,000 and never heard from them again

that is another scam i have had from tagged.com about some inheritance.. i know exactly the scam mail you talking about, it is a shame person you knew got fooled by it but how stupid of him also..
They are templates they use and many work from cybercafe or big office.. This scam letter i got, is slightly different to ones i had in past, not as professional since he is talking of big business haha... (how many times can he say dear haha)
be nice idea if mylot had a special section for scam talk..
thank you for sharing

Yes you would have to be stupid to fall for that my dear!
I would definitely report the person who sent it to the networking site. I don't think they would find it acceptable for someone to use the site to send that kind of message and he will be banned.
Someone could actually believe it to be genuine and respond, if they were new to the internet.

Hi mandykaren. It is funny. This is an old scam so people still doing this? We aren't stupid but out there many innocent persons believe in this. And they take all the money from these innocent people. It is a shame! We need to be carefull because the net is plenty of scams. Why you don't report it to the site?
Have a nice day.

i been looking again at it and his profile.. I never reported anyone before and i hate to do it, but there again what he is doing is disgusting.. And it is a definite scam..
It is my first day in site lol i heard about it from mylotter haha. another way to be rewarded for your activities lol but obviously he trying to find his reward by peoples bank accounts..

I think you should report this person before he con someone. Scammers are everywhere i was laughing just reading the message. No rich people would ever contact a stranger because he wanna invest in food business lol. I bet when the site knew about this incident that person will be banned and he can no longer scam any member.

I can not believe people do this sort of thing. I mean the people who would send them that info must be total morons. I don't expect too many people have actually given this guy their info. I would report him because there might be that one naieve person out there.

Nigeria has big scam organizations, working in big packs in the cybercafes. And some people do get fooled by it, especially any newbies to world of internet.. If people didn't get fooled then they wouldn't be using the same techniques they been using for years,,
I reported it short while ago, as he is abusing the site so hopefully he will get banned..

Personally, people like this need to be Reported, to prevent someone who has not learned about these scams and been warned about them to beware. I know I have received them from many sites, even including here, and I just hope and Pray the word continues to get around to keep others here or elsewhere online from being scammed as well. Continuing to get the word and warning out as well is what it will take as well.

well posting it in mylot is a good start with warning people of different kinds of scams.. this one was not that clever, but some can seem quite convincing to some people that are new to Nigerian scams.
I did report him next day after doing this discussion, but dont know if will take it seriously or not, i hope do.. But he probably already moved on, with another fake pic, and identity as they normally work in cybercafes.. It is so bad what they do, they must be so heartless, and like machine..

I get e-mails like that all the time...I just close them out and don't respond. I don't know who you'd report it to...maybe the owner's of the site? People are more aware these days and I don't think there are many that would fall for such an obvious scam.

i think there is some that do fall for it, older maybe or newbies too.. you be surprised and that is only one technique of many.. They must fool some for them to continue with it for so long.. You need to think, someone that get one of these for the very first time that not know about these kind of scams..
i did report it, in the contact us section, one of admins or mods will get it and hopefully ban him from site as he is abusing it
thanks for response.

Oh man yea I hate these emails they suck I've even had some send me fake checks and I would write them back telling them I'm turning them in and they would never contact me again, the sick thing is it is usually a group of people trying all to get money off of people then split it among themselves

yes it was a very poorly done email, i hate 'my dear' even more now then i did before For someone with such a big business proposition he was not very professional.
I think should play them at their own game and just play along with it, see what happen next, even give fake details.. Be rather interesting to find out what his next move would be lol
thanks for response
