Someone was telling me about a recipe where they used tatertot and ground beef in the casserole~ or something like that. Well, I happen to have a huge bag of tatertots in my freezer and was thinking about what I can make with them. Anyone have a good casserole recipe using tatertots?

Tater Tot Bake

* 1 onion, chopped
* salt and pepper to taste
* 1/2 (32 ounce) package tater tots
* 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the onions. Drain excess fat, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Spread the beef mixture evenly over the bottom of a 2 quart casserole dish. Arrange tater tots evenly over beef layer. In a small bowl, stir the soup into the milk until smooth; pour over tater tot and beef layers. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and slightly brown.

Well I've never heard about tatertots. Just for my knowledge could you tell what it exactly is? Thanks in anticipation.

Tatertots are little pieces of potatoes chopped up and formed into a little ball like shape.

The main one I think I have ever tried and tasted is like the first recipe mentioned here, and it is quite good. Makes me hugry even thinking about it, and maybe I will have to buy all of the ingredients as well.

I just went threw my outside freezer and found some tatertots. I am thinking that I will have to try this recipe next week. I already have my menu for this week set, but it will be a good one to try for next week.

I just saw this. Maybe you can use it the next time you have tater tots in the house.
1 1/2 pound ground beef -- browned and drained
1 onion -- chopped
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
30 ounces canned or frozen cut green beans
8 slices american cheese
1 bag tater tots
Preheat oven to 350F. Place the ground beef and chopped onion in a glass casserole dish. Combine the two soups and pour over beef. Layer the green beans on top of the soup. Cover evenly with the cheese slices and top with tater tots. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until tater tots are cooked through and golden. You can substitute other vegetables if desired.

Here's the one I use...you can substitute the ground beef for ground turkey to make this a healthier recipe if you'd like.
1 lb ground beef
1 can (10 3/4 oz) cream of chicken soup
1/2 soup can of water
1/2 cup chopped onion
Tater Tots
shredded cheddar
salt and pepper to taste
Brown ground beef in skillet; add onions. Cook until done; drain. Put in casserole dish; add hot soup and water.
Put Tater Tots on top. Bake in oven according to Tater Tot package directions. When done, put cheese on top. Place back in oven until cheese melts.
