Can you be a working mum and still be a Good Mum??

I have two daughters, 6 and 3 years old. I have stopped my full time job when my first daughter was born. I wanted to take good care of my daughters, and so i did. I do not regret the time i have spent with my daughters, especially when they were smaller, but now i find myself alone in the morning, cause they are both at school, and spending my time cleaning and washing up. I really think that it is time for me to find a part time job, and give a good change to this life that i have created. I really wish to find a part time job, but then, when i actually find a job that will suit me, i stop and think. Will i still be a good mum to my daughters? Will i have enough time to spend with them when they will come back home from school, with their homework. I know this may sound ridiculous, but this is the way i feel. I know that there are a lot of working mums, that still cope with their families, but i am finding it difficult to make the changes, even though i wish to work. I am very confused right now, and i wish to hear some comments and suggestions.

Being a mother is a full time job and then some. Do you really need to work? Of course one can work and still be a good mother. Especially if you work when the children are in school. But what happens when they are sick, will that be a problem? What does your husband think? Hope things work out for you!

Thanks for the comments and suggestions from all the people who wrote, but eventually your comment regarding that being a mum is already a full time job hit me hard especially if you are a MAN. I think that most men do not consider this as a full time job, but as duty, that is because being a mum and a housewife does not bring a paycheck at the end of the month, like being a father. I have to admit that my answer would be YES to your question regarding when my daughters will be sick and could not go to school. I cannot imagine myself away from any of my daughters, while they need me the most. This might sound strange for working mums that are doing this everyday, but for me, it is quite a hard thing to do. It might be, that I will have to get used to this situation, if i really want to find myself a job. My husband would say that i am free to do as i wish, but if i choose to find myself a job it is ok for him, as long as i still cope with the family needs like i am doing now.

If you want to work because you need some extra money. You might investigate ways of making the money, working on your time, from home. That might be a solution to money problems. There are ways. I am working on this right now because I want to be free to work the hours I choose. I have other things that I want to do. All the best!

By the way, I am a man, and a grandfather of three and a step-grandfather of four.
