Foreigners in jail

Tonight I saw a program called 'Banged up Abroad' and it is about British people caught trying to smuggle illegal drugs. Typically they are foolish people tricked by criminals. They get illegal drugs packed into their suit cases and then with sniffer dogs and customs officers that have expert ways of searching they are caught. The lady is likely to go to prison for ten years and the man who is innocent is still in Peru unable to come home yet. Someone said "do the crime, then do the time". I am a law abiding person and I would never commit a crime. No way. Why do foolish people try to smuggle illegal drugs? Do you know what some jails are like?

I watched this and the programme didnt make any sense, did he not have any family at home to help him be free? Could he not go to the british embassy and asked to be exported home??? All a bit odd. People do strange things for money and when they feel they have no choice the lady in the programme felt she had no choice and choose to go down that path, she is now serving her sentence for her decision.

My law teacher used to tell us something about Chinese jails, which he visited in his freshman year. So far as he concerned, the prisoners were kind of wellbehaved in the jails. If they do something good, they will get a remission. Thus, the prisoners work hard so as to get out there earlier. They have to get up early in the morning and then do some exercise. Also, they have to keep their rooms clean. The prisoners were required to do some jobs like building the roads for the public as their punishment. All in all, the jail laws are very strict. I watched prison break on fox. This is kind of unbelievable though. It is just a drama after all. I don't know weather western jails are like that, lol.

Many have not been tricked, they know what they are doing. Some do it out of greed and some from desperation. If these people want to risk breaking the law of other countries they need to realise that the rest of the world is not as soft on criminals as we are in the UK.

Well, if they're tricked. Suppose you put your suitcase down and when you weren't looking, someone substituted an identical one and even changed the name tag? That's why I try to have distinctive looking luggage or make it distinctive looking. Black cases everyone has. I have a white and beige samsonite set. Nobody has that. Take care
