This is really funny. I found this information over at gallup dot com
You can go look for yourself.
If anyone believes, after seeing this, that the polls aren't being rigged I suggest therapy.
2% of liberal democrats, 8% of moderate democrats and 16% of conservative democrats are going to vote for McCain according to gallups support by party and ideology poll.
However, according to Gallups support by party poll 87% of democrats are voting for Obama.
2+8+16=26
26+87=113
Yes 113% of democrats will be voting this year. Acorn is more effective than anyone ever guessed.

I hate to spoil this before you, but there's more to it than it would see. 2% of liberal democrats likely means 2% of 65% of all democrats. The 8% of moderate democrats could be 8% of 25%. 16% of conservative democrats could be 16% of the remaining 10%. Each group of democrats is a part of the whole and the percentages listed are a part of that part. I know it's confusing but that's the way these statistics work.

Is it possible those democrat classifications are subcategories of democrats?

The classifications are by party and ideology on the first one and part alone on the second. If a total of 26% of all democrats from across the Liberal, moderate and conservative groupings are voting for MCcain then the overall support( for McCain) must be 26%.
That means overall support for Obama must be 100- 26 which is 74.
Gallups figures only work if you have 113% democrats.

Sorry I was wrong. Wasn't thinking straight. They are subcategories. My apologies to anyone who sees this. My figures are wrong.
Been a long long day.

Maybe I'm being slow, I looked on gallup dot com to find the listings, but couldn't find these statistics: If a percentage of a subcategory is voting for McCain, say 10% of the liberal democrats, who represent 10% of all democrats, that would actually just add to 1% of the total population. I'm pretty good with math, that's the way I interpreted it, but if I'm wrong, can you provide the link? Gallup is a pretty reliable source I think.

I agree with you about the inaccuracy of polling. However, you have a logic error. While your arithmetic is correct, you have added the wrong numbers together. The 2, 8, and 16 are percentages of subsets of the total number of democrats. We don't know of what total percentage of democrats these subsets consist. Therefore, it is not correct to assume 2 + 8 + 16 + 87 should equal 100%.

It has been reported that many times the pollsters will try to tweak the group to fit a demographic they want. They may look for just a random group or registered voters. They may try to balance for ethnic background or religion. One poll even took the random sample and added 185 more to racially balance the group. The other thing that is not always reported is the question. One poll asked the question Are you satisfied, neutral, dissatisfied or extremely dissatisfied. The results were reported that x number were less than satisfied. Sometimes they will ask a series of questions and then average the results and report.

I believe it! The polls run by liberals all say only positive things about Obama. He has the highest this and that all the way. It is their way of trying impress upon more people to vote for Obama and to make the republicans think there is no change McCain will win. Because of that, I believe they can find there the percent of democrats is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy over 113 percent. Oh by the way, did I say how intelligent they were, too?
