I do consider that this time not all of us are still using a "Matches" in our kitchen to start the ignition of our kitchen stuff for cooking like Stove because some of it are already automatic to light it on but I am still keeping a "Matches" for emergency reasons that the stove would not work sometimes when it is so cold and i always keep it for my oven.... What about you Guys and to my Co-MyLotters are you still using a "Matches" in your kitchen...////??????

I dont use matches often. Because for me its not safe if there's toddlers or children around the house. They might play with it and cause fires and bring big damages to properties.

I don't have any matches in my apartment... i use an automatic light since it is more convinient... i can't remember the last time i used a match... and i think an automatic light is more safe... especially when there is a young child in the house...

Hi there Iyah!
It's been so long since I did that. I think I have done that three years ago. Thanks to our burner that's working well now.

Yes, we still have matches in the kitchen, for lighting candles during brown/blackouts, and most especially for use in the dirty kitchen. We use wood or charcoal for cooking if we run out of Liquified Petroleum Gas in the middle of cooking. Also when doing some outdoor barbeque, we need matches for fire.
Sometimes there's also a lighter standing by but I have noticed that lighters usually disappear from it's place. So I buy the big matchbox so no one dared put it in their pockets.

I used kitchen a lot while my wife went to her mother's place while on vacation. during this period I found that the gas lighter doesn't work all the times for me. It fails in the more humid conditions and if the lihter isd with oil or any othe soiler greasy substance ! with this I found it very difficult some times to ignite my gas stove, So I have started keeping a Match box as a stand by in case of emergency and believe me it has made my life easier though it is messy to throw the match sticks here and there in the Kitchen. For this also I have come to a solution by keeping a separate container to collect the burnt match sticks which I used to tranfer into dust bin in the evening! I don't think it is not fashion or out of fashion to use a Match stick,it is the getting the job done comfortably in case when it is needed! I think match box can never be replaced with lighters and thatsthe reasons still match Box industries are surviving and doing good business! Thanks!

Well I do still have an old oven in my kitchen and I do still use matches to cook. I just love to see the blue flame on a match stick :)

Hello iyah10
I have always got matches in the drawer in the kitchen because my cookers ignition runs of a battery and you never know when that battery is going to finish and I would have to wait until I had finished cooking dinner and the cooker has cooled down before I can change the battery.

Oh no! I don't have any matches laying around the house at all. I have a young daughter, and as much as I trust her, she still has the huge curiosity about everything. Plus, instead of matches, I use lighters. They go off very quickly and usually don't have a huge flame. When we moved in here, I did have a gas oven-and this was when my daughter couldn't walk yet- and so I did use matches. I knew she wouldn't be able to get them from anywhere. As she got older and started walking, I decided it was time to give them to my mom and I pick up some lighters. Plus, I don't want her-my daughter- to make the same mistake I did when I was younger.... When I was her age, I found a match. Well, it piqued my curiosity and I ended up lighting it. Since I didn't know how to put it out, I threw it in the sink. Well, there was a paper towel there and it wasn't wet. I bet you can guess what happened. The good thing was that it was the sink and I could put it out with the water.

I did so as the ignition of my cooking stove is out of function and I have not have chances to repair it for quite some time. So at this recent months, I did use matches in my kitchen for starting the ignition of cooking stove.

With Gas stoves, a lighter is more convenient. matches are generally getting damp and do not light at the time when you need it, but electronic lighters work fine.

we still use the matches and are thinking of buying a cooking range. yes for the kids it is a threat but now they are aware of it and we always keep the matches way away from their reach and we tried using the igniter but the women in the house didn't like it and we keep the ignitor as a life line and use the matches.

Yes sometime we're still using matches or lighter, but our stove is automatic and just like what you've said there are times it didn't work. so for emergency we still use matches or lighter. And there's nothing to worry about where to keep that matches safe cause we have no little children in our house. all my siblings already grown-up.
