When We Receive A Referral

is the person automatically added to our friends list? I was quite surprised recently, to receive an e-mail from myLot, stating that I have a new referral. This is a rare thing for me. I clicked on the link in the e-mail, to see who it is. I was further surprised to see that I have two more newer ones, that I wasn't even aware of. However, the previous two who appear to be related, have zero activity. This other newer one, is doing some posting, etc., though. I checked my friends list, expecting to see (at least the latest one) on there. They aren't there, and I'm not sure why. Did myLot change their policy regarding adding referrals to our friends list? What sources do you use to obtain referrals? Do you have a lot of referrals? Are they active on a regular basis?

Actually, the other person has to accept you as a friend before they will show up on your friend's list. I know because I did have a recent referal and had to walk her thru accepting me as a friend and turning on notifications.

Hi ElicBxn, Thanks for letting me know how this works now. I remember when I first joined, I had no idea what I was doing. It does take a bit of time to find your footing here. I'd be happy to assist my most recent referrals if needed, but have to wait to see if they even accept the friendship. Take care.

That's great. I wasn't referred by another myLotter, so had to find my own way around.

Even I was surprised to see that. I just got a PM from someone. I checked to see that. In that he has mentioned that he used my link to sign up. So I thought I could add him. I just didn't realize that only person in the friends list can send PM. Lol. When I checked, he is already in my friends list. This must be the right thing to do. They must be automatically added to our list actually. Good move by mylot admin. Hehe. Happy mylotting.

It's great that your referral would send you a PM like this. Very helpful. Yes, we can only PM back and forth with those on our friends list. I'm happy that this person chose to add you as a friend. I hope it all works out for you (referral wise). Happy myLotting to you too, and thanks for sharing here.

Hi Feona, It seems as though myLot has changed their policy regarding this. When I first joined over two years ago, any referrals were automatically added to our list. My first referral is somebody I've known for years, and personally invited. The other ones 'just happened.' I'm just always quite surprised when I do get a new one, as it's through no real effort on my part. A couple of them have absolutely no activity anyway. Thanks for sharing here. Take care.

Hello I do believe that the person who is the referee has to accept being your friend. If that person were to deny it, then they wouldn't automatically be added to your Friend list. I suppose that if someone were to sign up to myLot and discover that they had, somehow, signed up under your account but didn't mean to, then they may not accept the Friend request either because they didn't know what it meant, or perhaps some other reason. I know that when I signed up, I was automatically added to the person who referred me, but I had the option to decline. I really don't know, though.

Well Hello hellsangel, Quite a long time no see (you here). It appears to me, as though myLot has changed the way they do things. If I understand you correctly then, when you signed up under your referral, you accepted the friendship? I had no idea you had the option to decline. I'm just confused about my 'latest' referral, as I got that congratulatory e-mail from myLot, regarding this person. I hope you don't mind me sending you an 'e-mail' about this, among other things. Have a great day.

I don't find it easy to get referrals either, jijomathew. One way is if you have a blog, and you can add your myLot URL with your user name to it. Otherwise, I think if 'anyone' happens to be on your profile page, just taking a look around, they're automatically your referral, if they sign up then. I wish you all of the best with this. Thanks for your response.

I find it's actually very hard to get referrals. I think there are some who are really good at this, but unfortunately, not me. I hope things work out for you, and welcome to myLot. Thanks for your response.

I know when I first started here two years ago I was automatically put on the persons list that I signed up under...Not sure how it is working now! I have no referrals and would like some but am lost as to how to get them...I have no blogs or anything so.... Anyhow, I wish you all the best with your referrals and hope they all become active for you! ~Heavens~

Hi heavens, Yes, that's the way it used to work, but it appears the policy has been changed. I'd love to see you get some referrals too. I know you've invited 'somebody,' and they are a computer buff. I wish they'd just give it a try. They may really like it. Thanks for the best wishes. I've sent my own friend requests to my latest referral, and to 'one' of the other two (that appear related). I'll see what happens. I want to take a look at my blog again too, as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for responding here, as always. Hugs.
