My almost 2 year old and sleeping issues.

My son has been giving me a hard time when it is nap time. He will maybe sleep for 30 minutes and then not take another nap. He goes to sleep between 8 pm and 8:30 and wakes at 6:30 (his choice not mine). I don't get him out of bed until about 8:30 am. He does pretty well keeping himself occupied. I have 2 other children, one is almost 4 and the other is almost 2 1/2 months. The weather here is cold so we don't go outside much. I was just wondering what other parents do to ensure their child takes a nap. Any advice would be great.

If he doesn´t want to nap anymore don´t try to force it...let him stay awake iof he can...maybe he´ll sleep half an hour longer at night.. ;)

He goes to sleep when I put him in his room, he just doesn't sleep for long.

If he is going to bed around eight and getting up around 6, then he is getting ten hours of sleep. His body might not require that much sleep in a day, which might explain why he doesn't take a long nap. Does he get cranky during the day? He might be one of the rare children who do not need a nap during the day.

He gets extremely cranky by around 4 pm. He acts over-tired and irritable but he won't take a nap.
