Do you know about "dikir barat"?

Dikir Barat is a form of singing. It is unique cause it has a two frontman that called tukang karut and Juara. These frontman sings a verse and the rest of the group that called awok-awok follows them with the chorus. The group also move and sways with the chorus their singing while clapping their hands and raise their voice high to make it sounds more effective. The Tukang Karut will be interacting with the audience regularly while the Juara will be singing in more melodious voice. There's also a few instrument that follow these singing compromise of rebana ( a kind of percussion), maracas, a tambourine, a gong and canang (another kind of gong but smaller). These singing usually sang in a wedding ceremonies but nowadays only a few places that practices it. It also becomes popular again as it become a competition to seek the better groups amongst themselves.
