How do you know that the Bible is right? I have seen people here go on about it being the word of God but how they can they know that? They cannot, it is a book written by men about what they say are their experiences of God and they are often different and conflicting. The Church tried to exclude any books that they did not like but is it really God's message or is it really just men pretending they know what God wants and just using that to get what they want?
How can you be so sure that he bible is the word of God? How can you trust your faith when it tells you this?

i am not sure and i don't know. we should use our common sense and judgment to decide if the words in the bible is right or not. don't hesitate and don't be afraid to use them, as god bestow brain and mind to us human to utilize, to think, to ask, to hesitate, to consider, to agree and disagree.
anyway, i was born catholic and i used to read the bible in my childhood. i found the bible is the a good book, very inspiring and we can find many valuable moral lessons within it. reading the bible, we can learn many useful things to face this hard life, regardless the controversy that the bible is really "the words of god", "god dictated his words to some men and they wrote them accordingly", or or just and ordinary writing works of certain special people. the point is we are not to interpret the bible literally. it's not scientific work, it's a devotional work. it's difficult to say that the bible is a fiction; as difficult as to say that it's a fact. i think the bible is between fact and fiction, it's in the "twilight zone". it's surreal work.

I think it's up to you to look into it. I've got a whole research thing going on concerning the bible right now. It's actually really interesting when you look into it.
I'm running out of computer time so instead of going into my view of the bible i'm going to link you to an older post of mine.

Interesting post. Yes the Council of Trent that decided which books they would allow into the bible and which books they would leave out. A bunch of patriarchal priests who made sure that any book supporting the equality of women and their right to be ministers was left out and labeled heretical. All the gnostic books for example.
The bible is partly a book written by prophets and partly historical. The devoutly religious will argue that it was all written by God but it is often contradictory and if we were to go back to following what is written there then women would be in big trouble.
