Hello, I'm trying to finish my master-thesis for quite some time now... All the time I get feedback that I have to change a lot of things: the lay-out, more references, more figures, less figures, better references, etc. etc. It's going on and on. Now my teacher has told me that I'm allmost finished, but the other teacher all the times thinks different about me finishing... It's wearing me out... I really don't like working on my master-thesis anymore and I just want it to be over. I'm not motivated anymore, because it took to long. Anybody who recognises this or can help me get motivated again?

Well, Dear Friend I can very well understand your problem! I finihed my Masters in Animal Genetics and breeding in 1985. I too had very big amount of data so I had to seek a computer for the calculations. Then we never had these current type of computers. I had to work on Fotran -20 Computer where punch cards were used to feed the data.We had to punch the cards and computer used to read the card to get the data for processing. Each card had 80 colums and in each stipulated column the readings for a particular traits were to be entered. Thus I had observations more than few lakhs. Before entering the data into punch cards we were suppose to enter this data manually in a sheet with 80 columns from where later on it could be copied to punch cards. So just inttead of typing the data directly to the computer we had to first enter the data on a sheet then to be tranfered to punch card and before submitting these punch cards for processing we had to get the listing of the data which was again to be compared with original sheet of data and if found wrong then the particular card arranged in a particular fashion had to be replaced. This is just the aspect of entering the data into computer I am talking about. Now with the access to internet getting reference on a particular topic has become very easy. During our times we had to practically spend some weeks to get a few references on a paerticular topic. For tis we had to travel from college library to University Library. Then writing the thesis and reviewing our results and getting the thesis typed and again checking if it has followed the rules and regulations laid out by the University and all corrections are made brfore the same could be submitted for temporary binding.Which could be binded finally only the approval of external examiner coming for Viva Voce Exam. Yes I agree that the thesis writing and submitting it to university is more labour oriented than actual doing the research. I can understand your condition. But let me tell you one thing...this hard work of yours which you are doing will be a permanant , never forgetting experience of your life and you will enjoy these moments in future , when ever you will recall them and you will be a proud owner of a Thesis whose Copy is stored in University Library for further reference by other Research fellows! So Dear friend, instead of giving kind understanding, I would like to cheer you up and wish you best of luck for the early completion of your Thesis! Congratulations in advance! Thanks!
