Alright! I hate needles! BUT....I now presently work in a hospital environment, where we have cancer patients, as well as their low immune system, so we can't risk being sick around them.
And since I work at a hospital with such patients, I get the flu shot for free....with the big needle....and the BIG pinch....oh yeah, not very enthused!
*SIGH* I honestly cannot remember the last time I had the flu shot, or any vaccinations outside of high school, I've never had issues with the flu (except for some reason in April, but then again, I guess that wasn't really the flu.....or maybe it was the stomach flu.....anyways, getting away from the convo.
OK! SO!*clears throat* I just saw the flu shot banner in the hallway to the auditorium on my way to the mail room, one of my many chores through-out the day, and before I could stop myself, logic reared it's ugly head and said, "WHOA! Wait, yeah we're doing this, we need to, I'm sorry."
So I'm sitting at my desk now, typing this all up, and yeah...starting to feel woozy.
Bad enough that I wasn't feeling the greatest yesterday because I forgot to take my Effexor, which is an anti-depressant for those of you who don't know what it is, which I am TOTALLY requesting my doctor to down the dang dosage, because it friggin SUCKS when you feel dizzy after missing only one day of it!
Welp, wish me luck to not throwing up today!!!
Also, since this IS a discussion.....:what are your thoughts on the flu shot? Yay, or Nay?
And why?
If you are Nay, why Yay for someone else? and vice versa? Yay, but Nay for someone else?

My company pays for its employees to get flu shots so last year I received my first flu shot and just signed up to get one this year. Honestly, I don't think it helps me because I still got the flu last year. I signed up just because it is free, if it doesn't work then it doesn't work. I won't lose anything by not taking it. Now, if I was jumpy around needles, I definitely wouldn't be signing up, especially since I am not convinced on the fact that they actually help.
Since you work in a hospital environment, I think you should and I think it should be required - sorry. :) Patient care is the top priority and so by a hospital not requiring flu shots for its employees seems to me to imply that patient care is low on their list. Taking a flu shot isn't going to kill you but it might make things a lot harder for a cancer patient.
Anywaym happy myLotting.

Oh yes, I took it, but I feel so much better now, only because I got so yucky feeling for the whole morning after.

Due to repeated Chronic Bronchitis as a kid, teen and adult, I have been on the "high Risk" list for years. I went yearly to get my shot, but 3 years ago there was something wrong with the batch and I ended up really sick from it and allergic to eggs. So I no longer get it and have to take other precautions to avoid it. I generally recommend it but tell my friends to wait a couple of days after they start giving them to see if there are any problems. Good luck and good health

OH NO! I love eggs myself, so I can't imagine not being able to have eggs again due to an allergy!
Did you know you were allergic, or was this just an odd allergy that came out of nowheres?
And didn't they (the people giving the shot) inform you there are warnings for people allergic to eggs/chicken/thimersol? (I only know those 3 things because the print out is right in front of me...and what the heck is the third one? and what the heck is in the vaccine that's related to egg and chicken allergy? Ew.
