the curtain is ready to fall on one of the most colorful chapters of world cricket and indian cricket in particular.
saurav ganguly was an often mis-understood person. he had been linked with controversies on and off the field.
the latest controversy is.. did he retire on his own terms?? or was he forced to by the BCCI?? The truth we may never know unless saurav comes up with his autobiography.
Till hen lets share what you all feel about his decision

saurav's decision was voluntarily forced, by dropping him from irani trophy selectors and bcci made it clear that they were in no mode go give him another series to play. after being selected for the aussie series it was pretty much clear that he wont b getting another chance so its better to declare his retirement rather than sitting out.

Hey koolakhil4u It is very interesting topic I think it is not his own decision but it is one type of forced retirement. No doubt he is one of the best captain of Indian Cricket and during his tenure he has given lots of name & fame to Indian cricket. He is known for his aggressiveness. His best achievement is making young players team India. At the same time we can not ignore that he is about 36 plus and he feels uneasy and uncomfortable while running between the wicket. It is better for him to declare his own retirement in time and I think it is the right time to retire. Sourav should think it.

I think the retirement of Saurav Ganguly was forced. Its because few months back he made a statement that he is in no mood of quitting at least for two years. Suddenly he made the announcement of quitting from cricket. The reason is certain, bad form in SL series and exclusion from Irani trophy.

..well.. i think.. its not voluntary ..i think its more of a agreement between bcci and Saurav Ganguly.. since .. Saurav been a magnificent Player for a long time for India and also , he has been the most successful captain for india.. so.. it wouldnt have been fair to him that he is just dropped and not able to end his career on a high .. so .. i believe BCCI thought it would be fitting to Give Saurav One last test Match series. to have a grand farewell....
