Of course I worry about my cat!

I took my cat to the vet to get him fixed about 6 months ago because he was spraying everything. I had to take him in in the evening and he had to stay overnight because his surgery was in the morning. The vet told me that I could call anytime if I wanted to ask about him because he wouldn't be coming home until late afternoon of the surgery day.
I was talking to my friend about it how how I was worried about him and was wondering if I should call because the office hadn't called me at that point and she said "It's just a cat." But he is my cat and I am worried! Why wouldn't I be? There are others that feel that way too even if they have cats of their own. Anyone know why? It's not that they don't love their cat/s but it's like a cat is no big deal. I know there are dog people and cat people and people that have both. I have both and my dog and cat are equally important to me.
Are you a dog person, a cat person, or both? And if you had a cat, wouldn't you think he was as important to you as any other animal would be?

He's not JUST a cat - he's your baby!
Now, some of my cats had to spend the night at the vet. Now, my vet has you drop them off in the morning and they kept them over night. Well, with Oliver I told them I couldn't pick him up the next day so I took him home the same day.
Oliver has not spent a night away from the house since he came to us, at a week old.
Solo had only spent the that one night away since he came back from the vet at 3 days old. I say back, because he was in his mommy when he went to the vet to be born, or hatched, or whatever you want to call babies born by c-section.

Thank you for saying he's not JUST a cat! I brought him home as soon as he was old enough. I think I have had him about 3 years now. I think if my cat had to go through what yours did, I would probably go crazy!

I am a cat person although i love all animals, my cat and the two other cats that have been in my life are like family to me, i wouldn't even go away and leave my cat even though other people have offered to feed her, no-one looks after pets as good as the owner, yes i worry about my cat too...I hate that comment of its just a cat....

I feel the same way about both my animals too. They are part of my family as well. That was tough to do, leaving him all night but I had to do it--I couldn't take the spraying (he's inside cat). He even sleeps with me at night!
