well friends this one is a very interesting question for you i know most you must have a debate on dis topic but lets share it up again .Whom do think is or was the best captain of Indian team???is it was kapil dev under whose captaincy team India won its first world cup and 2nd team to win world cup after west Indies,or is it suniel gavaskar under whose captaincy team Indian won its first test series in australia,is it saurav ganguly under whom team reached finals in world cup,or is it mahendar singh dhoni under team India won its first 20-20world cup and many other test and oneday series???well i think mahendar singh dhoni is the best captain of indian team offcourse he is a great batsman with great potential but surely he has the ability to lead his team from the front.you can see that even in pressure situation he looks to be so cool and calm while this thing wasn't visible on any other indian captain because they may take the wrong decision under pressure....so as far as i think dhoni is the best captain of indian team....

well acordin' to me the best captain ever was Saurav Ganguly.I think he holds the team when the it was in turmoil.he always leads from the front and believe both in tatics and instinct.the biggest drawback of ganguly is that he is over agressive.
by the way i also like cool headed dhoni.

The Best captain for Indian Team is I think Mahendra Singh Dhoni.He is really a awesome person........

The best captain that India ever had is undoubtedly Saurav Ganguly. His contributions to the Indian team are incomparable. When he took over as the captain, Indian team was surrounded by the match fixing controversy. He led a young team to reach ICC champions trophy finals, then won the test series against Australia at home, followed by away test match wins at England, Zimbabwe, West Indies. Drawn the test series with Australia at their home, defeated Pakistan in both test and one dayers at their home. Also under him India won the Natwest trophy at England in 2002. Won the ICC Champions trophy in 2002, reached the finals of World Cup in 2003. Apart from these he was also responsible for developing a lot of good players like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Sehwag, Dhoni, Zaheer Khan etc. These contributions can never be matched. So he is the best captain that India has ever produced.
