Okay I don't really "hate" cell phones, but I hate the people whom don't know how or when to use them properly etc. Driving home last night from pisking my wife up from her job I ran into "distracted" drivers on their cell phones. 3 different times I had a car veer into my lane of traffic nearly hitting me. Each one of these people were talking on a cell phone. Why is it they feel the need they have to talk right then as they are on an interstate freeway? Why can't they either pull off the highway or wait till they get home to talk? If they can offord a cellphone why can't they also buy the hands free feature? Do you own a cell phone? Do you talk while driving also? I do not, nor am I planning on having a cell phone anytime soon. I do have On-Star in my car which has a built in phone that works throiugh the radio and is hands free.

I don't drive but my partner does and something like what happen to you happen to us last week when we were on holiday.
We where driving down a country lane that was just big enough for one car so my partner was going slowly as he didn't know the road and knew that he would have to stop if there was a car coming the other way.
We went round the corner and racing towards us was a car that was exceeding the speed limit it was just lucky that there happen to be a driveway of a house which the other car had to pull into. It turned out that the driver was chatting away on the phone and obviously not paying attention to the road as she had to brake sharply to pull over. Even the car behind her had stopped and pulled over to let us pass before the first driver had even noticed us.
My partner was not too impressed and yelled at her to get off the phone as we drove pass.
My partner will not use his phone when he is driving he either just let it ring or he will pull over in a safe place to answer it.

I usually pull up alongside these drivers making the signal of
hanging up a phone then switch lanes to get out of their way.
Good for your partner. Thanks.

I think all cell phones should be supplied with
a handsfree set when bought personally.

I love cell phones, and I hate those people from countries where they use cell phones exclusively coming out now that I bought one and saying, "It will cause brain cancer" unless you hold it ten feet away from you, on speaker, or have a long cord that is as long as that one on that video years ago. " I forget the name but it was in the eighties.
I think it is stupid for people to talk while driving, because even if it is on speaker, they are not concentrating on the road. I have a cell phone for emergencies and also taking pictures of my adorable granddaughter. It is off most of the time unless I go someplace where there is no home phone.
We did have on-star, but it was too expensive to keep so we got rid of it.

I do have a cell phone (we got rid of our land-line) and i DO NOT talk on it while driving (my children can't understand why i don't answer even if i am on the road). I read that there was a study done and talking on the phone, even with the hands-free feature still causes an increase in accidents due to distraction. Everytime i see someone talking on the phone driving down the road it irritates me but when i see people texting while driving it's all i can do inot to drag them out of their car and slap them silly for being stupid (they are just asking for trouble)!

Thank you for your time in my discussion.
The star is accquired once a member reaches 100 points.
It is a rating system for other members.
Other members rate you a + or a _ and this affects the star you earn and the reading when you hover your cursor over it. The rating system is flawed as someone can go around minusing a member at any time for any reason so I do not rely on the reliability of the rating system. Most members do not like the way the rating is done. ANyhow as far as my earnings, that is confidential. But I can say in over 2 years here I have missed payment only on time. I have my minimum set at $10. There are times I've made $50 in a month. But I am on 12 hours daily as well.

This is definitely extremely annoying! I don't talk on my phone while I am driving at all! It is so distracting, I don't know how people can do it. And I drive in Miami, so probably one of the worst cities to drive in after Manhattan. It is scary enough driving on these roads without having to concentrate while speaking on the phone. Even hands-free is so distracting. I really don't see why people have to speak on their phone while in their car, I mean wait till you stop! I have hear of way too many accidents happening just because people were distracted by this or something else.

Yeah many people nowaday is so annoying by using their cell phone on unappropriate time. But to stop to talk on a phone, I don't think it is very practical in many way.

I never use cell phones while I am driving. Besides it is against the law I don't want to cause a traffic accident. I think that the police should be stricter when it comes to the use of cell phones while driving. I usually ignore mine while driving. Otherwise I ll just park the car somewhere and answer the cell phone when I am in a safe area.

I do have to add that I have also seen people pulled over chatting on their cell phones. So it is not every cell phone owner that drives while talking.

yes I do have a cell phone but I never use it while I am driving.
The same thing happends here all the time people talking on there cell phones while driving. I just dont understand it either what is so inportant that people have to talk while driving. Some states have a law that they cannot use cell phones while driving. We do not have that law here.

They passed a law here as well about distracted driving habits.
One can be charged with careless driving if need be as well.
That might stop some from this practice.
It carries a hefty fine for careless driving.
But yet has anyone been charged or fined for this here in MN.

Hi Grandpa B,
Ohh....That is very annoying also, I don't drive but hubby and I always encounter that situation and drivers are using their phone, I hope there will be some regulations because even if people will be giving an advice to stop talking on the phone while driving, there are still many people who are just very confident and putting everyone's life at risk!

There have been very serious accidents around here due to this lack of common sense not being used as far as chatting and driving.

I curse at those who are using their cell phones WHILE I am crossing a pedestrian crossing. My son and I almost got hit by a car because a young lady was too busy laughing and chatting away on her phone to even notice us crossing. GRR it irks me when I see drivers on the road talking on their cell phones. It is dangerous not only to them but to others too. Its common sense not to do that but people still do GRR!

Yeah that can be a hazard to pedestrians as well.
Some people have no common sense when they HAVE to chat on their phones. I spot a car swerving and the first words from me are, damn cell phones.

I have a phone and yes I'm guilty of sometimes talking on it while I drive. I have even texted message while I drive. I have been cutting down and I do own a blue tooth - sometimes I just forget to activate it. I know it's illegal but sometimes I have to do what I have to do. I don't hold conversations, just touching base real quick with the kids or my husband.

Yes, thats one thing that annoys me too, is drivers that talk on the cellphone while they are driving. It seems like they aren't watching how they drive when they're on the phone, I have a cell phone and I try not to talk on it while driving, if it rings I'll just let it ring, they can leave a message and I'll listen to it later, I think its very distracting sometimes, especially if your driving in a place that has a lot of traffic, like an interstate highway or something like that. I don't have ONstar, sounds kinda neat...Have a good day

We just recently had a teen in a bad accident where a couple kids were severely injured.
This was caused by a teen texting while driving. Luckily this is after 10 at tnight so not a lot of traffic. I'd hate to see this during rush hour. But I am sure it happens even more then. I am not on the raods at those times thankfully.

I hate cell phone addicts too. I have a cell phone, but mine is always turned off. If I need to make a call to my husband I will pull over. My husband is always complaining that my phone is never on, WELL!!!!
I see people as soon as they leave work, they are on the phone, during work, on the phone, get in their cars, on the cell phones, in the supermarket, in the cell phone. I have even heard cell phones ringing in churh.
The cell phone may be the best worst invention ever.
I use my so little, that I charge it once every four or five months, I can really do without it.
I never talk on the phone while driving.

Good deal.
Another thing that bugs me as well as my wife is people who use their cellphone while eating in a restaraunt. She waitresses and has had many customers stop ordering their meal as they HAD to take that call. A business call maybe, but these are mostly BS calls from friends etc. She gets frustrated having to wait and all. Sometimes she just walks away then makes them wait for her to return etc.

Yes, people who takl on cell phones while driving makes me nervous and angry too..And be careful, even the hands free ones can distract you, just like having a passenger in the car can distract you when you talk..

Hi dear
i do have cell phone and i dont listen to it or do text while driving. Keeping in mind the problem arising, its strictly prohibited to use Cell phone while driving and its heavy fine levid onm it since last 7-8 month either they are driving in city or on highway, i think its best way
Financial penality can keep the listeing to it whilr driving.
and u r right if its emergency they can pullover, listen and then drive
Wish u all the best

I can't talk on the phone when driving and I know it so I pull over if I have to make a call and don't answer it till I've pulled over. My kids make fun of me for that!
I, too, have narrowly avoided accidents that would have been caused by those %%^$* drivers who just can't keep from yakking on the phone. What the heck is so important that they can't drive somewhere without talking? And why can't moms just enjoy playing with their kids in the park without that phone in their ear? Everywhere I go, there's the phones in the ear or the headsets.
People are not enjoying the moment. They don't really live anymore, they just talk.

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
I hate cell phone as well, I have one but only use it in emergencis and most of my friends have my landline. It is agaist the law to talk on the cell phone while driving and if anyone is caught doing that they be have a heavy fine and if anyone see them ussing the phone while driving you can report it to the police, I can't believe you can so that in the U.S. Take care

What really irritates me about cell phone talking drivers is the fact that many of them slowly approach stop signs but they never actually stop at them. They just roll on through without paying attention to the vehicles that are also stopped at them. I have been nearly sideswiped countless times.
I do own a cell phone, it is a prepaid one through Verizon Wireless and I only activate it when I am working at my seasonal employment. Being an tax service Office Manager I have to be on-call during open business hours so I use I cell phone from January to April 15th every year. I do not talk while driving, heck I do not do anything while driving except drive.
