I never thought I would be adding this avatar but the truth is, a week ago I think I suffered a mini-stroke. There was no sudden traumatic attack and nothing that would have caused me to call an ambulance. In fact, the only thing I noticed was an involuntary difference in my walk with a slight weakness in my right knee. I've also noticed a difference in my right arm as it seems weaker than usual. also, my handwriting has changed and it is more difficult to write long hand. Also, I'm finding it more difficult to type accurately with more mistakes being made in my right hand. I do have an appointment today to see the doctor and I'll know more a bit later. Since last week, my walk has improved a bit but the dexterity in my right hand is still the same. It's really a weird feeling when you know what you want to do but you just can't make your extremities co-operate. Let this be a heads up to any of you who might be concerned. The warning signs for stroke, which can be traumatic, can also be very subtle which is my case. Be aware of your body functions at all times and never take them for granted.

Thanks for the reminder my friend. Yeah, those were signs of having a mild stroke. Especially when you notice quite a difference between the left and right sides of your body. I would really suggest that you have yourself worked up. Most likely your physician will ask you to undergo some tests and quite possibly, get admitted so you could be observed. It's best to know what's causing the weakness on that particular side of your body.
Always take care of yourself. My doctor always tells me that a full blown stroke can happen anytime and it is usually instant. The weakness due to mild stroke will get better in a short while (could be hours or even just a few days). But it's a sign that part of you lacked oxygen and it's the best decision to visit a physician. Take care.

You're welcome. I hope you're already feeling better. Yeah, sometimes high blood pressure do result in stroke-like symptoms. Just be very careful and monitor your blood pressure regularly, and of course, take your medicines.

My dad suffered a mild stroke and right now he cannot walk like normal anymore but he is still on the process of recovering...
when he was hit with a mild stroke his doctor told him that he had suffered a lot of minor strokes or attacks and we dont even know because it is not like the mild one where your face will be deformed or you cannot move your hands... I wonder what kind of pain are those minor attacks... any idea?

I hope that you're doing fine. That can be scary. I thought I had a heart attack last month. I was having chest pains and had trouble breathing. I went to the emergency room. I stayed the whole day but they didn't admit me. They did all sorts of tests but they didn't find anything. They told me that I was having an anxiety attack. I thought for sure that I was having a heart attack but thank goodness it wasn't as serious as I thought.

You dont say how old you are, although strokes can happen at any age. Most people tend to think that they are an aging thing, but I have known a 17 year old that it happened to.
I am so glad that you are seeing your doctor, and I hope that all will be well. At least when you are aware of a problem, you can do something about it. There are all sorts of medications that can help, also I would look into complimentary therapies, not instead of regular medical help, but as well.
Hope that you are ok.

I'm 65 and well within the possibilities for stroke. I'm just glad mine was more of a warning instead of the real thing. I posted this mainly to warn everyone to be aware of your body at all times and take nothing for granted. You may not be as lucky as I was to have only a mild event. And you're right, it could happen at any age especially if you have a problem of high blood pressure. Stay healthy and thanks for the response and concern.
