What a start to a long weekend!

Well as many of you know who are Canadian it is Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. So I loaded up the car with all my goodies and thinking im on my way to see my fiance. It is a 2 hour drive North west of Winnipeg. So I'm raring to go. I get in the car start it up and begin to drive. I come up to a red light and notice the car over reving. Which means that the RPM's are reviving too high. Which is not normal. So I try and get a chance to pull off the road so that I'm not in anyones way on the street and now I am noticing that I don't have to even have my foot on the gas pedal and the car has a mind of it's own. Gaining speed and it like it automatic cruise. So I pull over open the hood and everything looks ok. I check the hoses and what not but instead of continuing on my journey for 2 hours I decide I should go home and check it out. The car is still gaining speed, and it's still reviving high and now it's harder to stop as the car wants to go. So I am putting strain on the brake system. I get the car home and notice as soon as I turn the engine off a little cloud of smoke popping out from the hood. I open the hood and to my surprise my rad hose blew. There is a steady squirt coming from it so needless to say I can't go no where and it won't be able to get fixed till Monday. Well I'm still heading out of town I just had to rent a car now. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with that.

I think you were fortunate that you caught it before you went too far. Better to find out when you're still close to home than when you're way out on the highway. That's something to be thankful for.

Yes I was thankful that it happened when and where it did. It sure would of sucked if I was stuck out in the middle of the highway thats for sure. I finally did make it out there after I had a flat on the rental I got.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and all other Canadian's out there. All I can say is it is a good thing your car had problems before you got out of town. That would have been bad to be half way there and it started up on you. I hope your weekend is a very fun one, drive safe.

I was sure lucky to have the car mess up on me where I did. Glad I made it home and didn't have to get a tow. It sure would of sucked if I was out on the highway and this happened. However the car that I rented ended up with a flat tire. Oh well I guess these things happen right. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving and you filled up with turkey and the trimmings.

I have not had the fun yet of filling up on turkey and dressing. I love the dressing more than the turkey but our Thanksgiving isn't until November. Plans right now are to go to our daughter's for the holiday.

Happy belated Candian Thanksgiving!!! I hope you had a great time. This weekend is long for my family. The kids had friday off for teacher in service days. Where teachers put grades in the computer. They also get monday off. As it was a make up hurricane day. Since we had no hurricanes. No day to make up. So they get it off. That makes a 4 day weekend. My hubby gets home tomorrow sometime. I can't wait.

Thank you and yes I did have an excellent weekend. Got to see the fiance for the entire weekend and had some special moments in there. Sadly the weekend came to a quick end and fiance had to leave again for work. Now I don't get to see him till Christmas.

Being Canadian I know all too well what lies in store for you in your travelling this weekend. It is one of the busiest holidays on our highways. Hopefully the rest of your trip will be uneventful and you will arrive at your fiances with no further problems. Be safe on your journey and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I did encounter another problem. The car that I rented had a flat. Geez I just couldn't get a break that night. But I did finally make it out there and the rest of the weekend was great. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and you filled up on turkey and all the trimmings.
