When you go into a dark room, do you immediately turn on a light?

When you walk into a dark room, do you
immediately reach for the light
switch or do you try to walk through
the dark room with no light?
For me, I reach for the light switch.
It's more of a habit than anything.
Also, if I'm walking into the kitchen,
I want to turn on the lights to see if there
is water in the floor.
Our refrigerator keeps defrosting onto
the floor and things can get slippery.
You have to watch your step.
So what do you do when you first enter
a dark room?

I don't always go to turn on the light. It just depends on the situation. If I am going into the living room or kitchen I do but if my boyfriend is sleeping and I go into the room I won't turn on the light. Or if I go to the restroom I close to the door first so the light doesn't wake him up. But I always, always have to turn the light on when I am in the bathroom. I cannot use the bathroom in the dark it's a weird fear I have developed since one of my friends got bite by a poisionous spider while sitting on the toliet!! lol

I usually do. I don't like going into any room without having some sort of light. I mean I never know what I may run into or step on if I don't have some sort of light on. I try to make sure I always turn the light off when I'm finished though that way I'm not wasteful with the electricity.

it depends on the room. Most of the time I do turn on a light because my vision is not that good in the dark. If it is a room I am completely comfortable in the dark, like the bathroom, I may not turn on the light as I know where everything is

At night, I hate turning on the bathroom light.
I can see the hall light
all the way to the bathroom door.

Instinctively reach for the switch. I have small boys and there are toys everywhere. I would break my other hip if I didn't. The lst time I didn't turn a light on when i entered a dark room, I stepped on a mtchbox car. OUCH! That really hurt and I almost dropped my 2 year old. I learned my lesson quickly.

I never dare to go inside a dark room all alone,I get so scared. Even if I have to i'd first switch on the lights so that I won't be haunted by ghosts. He he he :-D

Not me. Turning on the light is actually the last thing I do, and only if I need to. I am legally blind, and though I can see pretty well in lighted areas, vision is not my primary sense. I can move around dark rooms just fine, even my cluttered apartment where most people would break their necks tripping on something. LOL I get around just fine.

If i go into a room looking for something i turn on the light but if i'm just passing through i tend to leave them off. I also dont turn the lights on when i get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. This is because even if the light is on if i havent found my glasses and put them on theres no point having a light on because i cant see anythign anyways.

I have a thing about dark quiet rooms. Typically the television is on so no need for the light. I do however automatically reach for the light. The funny thing is when you're half asleep and reach the wrong place. If I go into my son's room, I want to make sure I'm not stepping on any Lego's barefoot, I'm clumsy like that. I'm also afraid of a dark bathroom for some reason. I'm not sure why, maybe it's all the scary stories my uncle told me when I was little. Yes, lights are a necessity for me.

I always turn the light on, if I even remembered to turn them off in the first place! I never know what I might bump into when entering a dark room.

I turn on the light. I am a clutz. I can imagine the bruises I would get trying to make it across the room. Ow! I knew there was a better place for that couch.

I turn lights on before I get to the room that I want to go in especially if I am going downstairs and it is dark and quiet. I could not go into a room in my house downstairs in total darkness I would have a coronary.

Sometimes I go for the light but if I can make in and get what I need then I may not bother. I am quite comfortable in the dark so don't need every single light on in the house.

I usually work at night so to keep everyone busy in their sleeping, I walk around the house with the lights off. Good thing, I know the way. I just need to adjust my eyes to the dark. And if I need to look for something, that's when the time I switch on the light. But sometimes, I open our ref. There's a food and there's a light! see...double purpose (^o^)
