i would like to know what makes our children today think that they need to walk out of there homes with a knife or gun in there pocket?? is society really to blame or is it just the way there brains seems to function in this day and age ...i would like to get the fews of other people who wonder about this.... after all when i was young the thought never crossed my mind to carry a weapon, when i had a fight i always used my hands so why why why do our kids use weapons today?/

It's not how their brains work. For the most part, their brains work just like yours did when you were their age. Evolution doesn't work that fast. I don't know why. Some people say video games are making people more violent. Or T.V. or Music, or what have you. My guess is that kids are in a world with less parental supervision and are working on their own theories about how to handle things. The primeval response to aggravation is normally a violent one to remove the aggravation. Without adults to guide them on the proper ways of handling the situation, kids fall back on what their insticts tell them. Also, without parental supervision, it's easier to get a hold of the weapons in the first place. Our society has seen a strange shift. With the growth of the internet and personal entertainment, we've drifted away from the communal and accountable way we used to live our lives. Now, you can be a handle on a website and never have to be called to task for what you say. Now, you don't have to associate with other people if you don't want to. So when you do associate with them, you don't know the rules and neither do they. So, you make them up and that is what all those years of social niceties was meant to avoid. It's unfortunate, but unless grown-ups start taking a vested interest in our young people, it probably won't end. There are rules we all follow, they make life easier. If we teach them to the young, it will make their lives easier too.
